Don’t think we’ve ever had a track invasion at a BTCC, at least not in this lifetime

Managed to get a bit more time on the software today:
Once the field got through the first corner, Jelley appeared to suffer some issues with his car. Running slowly for short time, he was at the back of the pack by the end of the sector. Morgan, Osborne and Thompson all had a bit of a coming together but seem to have come out of it unscathed. Through Sector Two, Chilton has contact with Gornall, and as a result loses out to Turkington who sneaks past. Cook and Proctor both leave the track momentarily and slip back slightly. Boardley makes a bold move on Jordan, but comes off worse and drops two places. At the end of the lap M.Jackson gets past Crees into 24th. At the end of lap one, the running sees Oliphant in first place, Morgan second and Neal third. Goff is running well in fourth, Plato fifth Ingram rounds out the front six. Jelley is at the rear following his early problems, ahead of Thompson and Rowbottom. Into lap two and Boardley passes Smiley into the first turn, and the rest of the field start to settle into position. Through the second sector, Butcher gets past Hamilton with no changes through the field in sector three. Lap three starts without incident, before Goff and Bushell look to have almost identical incidents in the second sector. Goff drops to fifth behind Plato, and Bushell drops to twenty-first behind Gornall. The field gets really shaken up in the third sector though. Thompson loses pace dramatically and pulls in at the end of the lap to park the car with a terminal failure. Goff and Bushell drop another place each, as well as Gornall and Neate. Turkington take advantage and moves up into 20th. Oliphant leads Morgan and Neal over the line, with Plato following closely. Thompson’s retirement sees Osborne ahead of Rowbottom and Jelley at the back of pack. Cammish sets a blistering lap time, that looks tricky to beat. Lap four sees Bushell, Smiley, O.Jackson and Proctor all lose places in sector 2. Hill, Chilton, Cammish and Turkington continue to make progress. Towards the end of the lap, a coming together between Osborne and Crees sees the latter off into the barrier. The car is quickly moved out of the way, but Crees’ race is over. Turkington gets past Hamilton comfortably at the start of Lap five, before Boardley makes a move on Sutton that goes wrong. A bold move, Boardley loses out and drops to 11th, with Hill pouncing to move up into the top ten. Recovering from his contact, Sutton almost takes out his team-mate Moffat, but fortunately they both continue, and as they settle down Moffat is in 8th, Hill 9th and Sutton 10th. O.Jackson’s race is over though, as he pulls into the pits and retires the car with engine problems. Hill gets past Moffat early in lap 6 and Chilton moves past Gornall early in the lap, and Hamilton in sector 3 to cross the line in 19th. Turkington still sits outside the points in 15th, with no change at the front or back of the field. In lap 7, Hill goes wide and Moffat and Sutton, running together, both get past. Neate gets past Proctor into 14th. Boardley continues his incident-packed run and makes contact with Hill as he returns to the track, losing three places as Smiley, Neate and Cammish all pass by. Turkington continues to make steady process at the end of the lap, and passes Butcher into 17th. The ongoing battle between Hill, Sutton and Moffat continues into Lap 8, with Hill getting between the two Q50s. Moffat moves forward though and then passes Goff for 7th place. Hill follows Moffat past in the last sector and Jelley moves off the back of the field passing Rowbottom. Lap 9 passes with no change for position, with Hill continuing to push Moffat throughout. Hill takes his chance in Lap 10 getting by Moffat, and towards the end of the lap the i30 shows a good turn of pace passing Cammish over the line for 11th place. Into Lap 11, Neal gets past Morgan for 2nd place and Chilton moves past Butcher to follow Turkington for a few corners. Gornall makes an error, and Hamilton passes him for 20th. Gornall continues to struggle, having picked up debris on his tyres. A few cars pass him by in sector three, Proctor also has a coming together with Cook with Turkington and Chilton both benefiting. Turkington now sits in 16th, and close to the points. |

Well crm, you've certainly put some work into this, so full marks for effort! Just typing it all out would have taken me ages.

And already spotted a typo.
The one line should read 'Turkington still sits outside the points in 18th'. |

...... Turkington now sits in 16th, and close to the points .......
Into Lap 12, and Goff runs wide into the gravel at turn one. He struggles to get out but manages to make it. Unfortunately, he has to wait for the whole field to pass before returning, dropping him back to 26th. Butcher slips past Proctor whilst Cammish manages to pass Sutton into 9th. As a result of Goff’s excursion, Turkington is now up to 15th. Into sector two, and Cammish picks up another place getting past Moffat into 8th. Boardley passes Neate coming onto the start/finish straight to take 12th. Lap 13, and Bushell passes Hamilton looking to get up into the points. Jelley also gets past M.Jackson a few places back in 22nd. Bushell doesn’t make the move stick though, and Hamilton regains the place shortly after. The battle continues, and it’s eventually Bushell who comes out on top by the end of the lap. Moffat and Sutton swap places, possibly to see if Sutton can chase down Cammish who is moving up towards the leaders. Coming onto the finish straight, Oliphant’s car is unsettled and Neal pounces to take the lead over the line. Morgan spies a chance, and as Olpihant recovers, Morgan gets past too into 2nd. Oliphant goes from 1st to 3rd in the length of a straight. Jordan is now just two places back, having past Ingram into 5th. Jelley continues to move towards the points, passing Hamilton for 20th. M.Jackson passes Osborne further back, but it looks like it might be too late for M.Jackson to get points on his return. The BMWs look good in the middle sector though, and Oliphant takes back second from Morgan, whilst Jordan pulls off a great move to get by Plato into 4th. Hamilton makes an error, and M.Jackson and Osborne get by. Bushell also passes Proctor. As the field moves into Lap 15, Goff still runs last, behind Rowbottom who is passed by Gornall. Neal leads Oliphant, Morgan, Jordan and Plato. Cook now passes Neate, who drops to 14th and is being closed down by Turkington. Cammish continues his run, getting past Hill into 7th. Sutton and Moffat swap back, with Sutton having made no ground on the leaders. Onto the last lap, and the final chance to gain places in the hunt for early points. Goff passes Rowbottom from last, but otherwise the field look settled. All is quiet, until the last rush to the line. Boardley makes a last-ditch attempt and passes Smiley into 11th. And Turkington makes up another place, getting past Neate at the end to take 14th spot. |

The grid forms up for Race Two, and for the first time this season they are carrying ballast.
Grid position is determined by Race One results, and there is an expectation that RWD advantage will once again play a part. As the lights go out, Moffat makes a blinding start in the middle of the pack, making up 5 places off the line and heads into the first corner up to 4th. Ahead, the BMWs of Oliphant and Jordan both get away well, and it is a BMW 1-2 as the field passes through. Turkington also looks to have got away well and is up to 11 already. A few positions are swapped further down the field, and as the drivers all settle into line it’s Oliphant, Jordan, Neal, Moffat and Morgan who make up the top five. Moving through sector one, Boardley and Turkington continue the RWD momentum they had off the line, and both get past Hill. Butcher and Chilton also trade places just outside the points positions. Boardley is on a bit of a run and makes an ambitious move to try and get past Turkington. Turkington defends well, and Boardley must back out of it. He backs out too late though, having missed his braking point he is straight off and that’s his race over. As the cars approach the end of the first lap, a bit of jostling for position takes place. Plato gets past Morgan for fifth, M.Jackson up to 18th, Osborne 20th and O.Jackson 23rd. It’s Rowbottom, Crees and Thompson at the rear, with the front five Jordan, Oliphant, Neal, Moffat and Plato. Lap Two gets underway. Butcher makes a move on Neate and is through. Neate is unsighted and makes a lunge down the inside to retake the place. He narrowly misses Cook as he runs through but collects Smiley who is clattered onto the grass. Neate gathers up and continues unscathed, but Smiley seems to get bogged down in the edge of the gravel. He eventually manages to get clear but is now running last. As the field completes the lap, Ingram makes an error which is immediately pounced upon by Cammish and Sutton. Cook also gets past Hill with a clean overtake. Crossing the line, no change at the front or the back of the field. Lap 3 and Osborne is passed by Proctor. Gornall takes the chance and slips through as well. Thompson passes Crees into 26. Sector 2 of the lap, and Neal makes a late dive under braking to pass Oliphant. He makes the move stick and is now up to 2nd. Rounding out the lap, Osborne passes Gornall for 20th place. The rest of the field sees no change, Turkington sets the fastest lap so far. Lap 4 underway, and Turkington makes another move up the field, passing Ingram into 9th place. Hamilton also makes a pass on O.Jackson, and gains a place towards the rear. Contact between the two sees O.Jackson out of position, and Goff takes advantage to get past as well. The end of Lap 3 sees a series of incidents coming out of the chicane. Cammish cuts up the inside of Morgan under braking. Morgan runs wide after contact, Cammish and Sutton squeeze through. Chilton overtakes Neate through the chicane a few places back. Bushell and Goff both brake heavily to avoid running into the back of Neate as he is slowed down following the pass. Jelley fails to spot the incident ahead until the last minute and must take avoiding action. This seems him dart down the escape lane, and when he recovers the rest of the field have gone through. All except for Cress and Thompson. Thompson seems to be distracted by Jelley looking to re-join and doesn’t spot Crees behind who then gains a place. Turkington sets a quicker fastest lap. Lap 5 – and no change in the first sector despite Morgan’s efforts to get past Sutton. A bit of rubbing, but nothing major. Further round the lap, Hamilton looks up the inside of Gornall, but the move doesn’t stick. The lap concludes with no changes of position. Lap 6- and still relatively incident free. The field appears to have settled into position and nothing much happening. Part way through the Lap, Moffat gains on Plato under braking, but the door is closed. Towards the end of the lap, Sutton attempts a pass on Chilton. Chilton defends, and Bushell contacts Neate. No damage, but Bushell loses a bit of pace but holds his place. Lap 7 underway, and a few positions change. Turkington passes Morgan to take 8th place. Just behind, Cook gets past Ingram into 10th. Further back, Proctor gets into a tangle with M.Jackson. Proctor comes off worse, and both Gornall and Osborne benefit and get by. Sector two sees no changes. A couple of changes in the points places at the end of the lap though. Cammish passes Moffat to move up to 5th and Butcher passes Hill for 12th. BMW, Honda, Vauxhall, BMW, Honda, Infiniti make up the front 6. Turkington lowers the fastest lap time. Lap 8 – and again no driver seems to be able to make anything happen in sector 1. Partway round the lap, Butcher passes Ingram to move up to 11th. The lap concludes with Goff making up another place and passing Hamilton for 21st. The times are tumbling, as Turkington goes faster still to lower the lap time even further. Lap 9 – and a similar story. No one can make an impact through the first sector. Into the second sector, and M. Jackson battles with Bushell to get into the points. M.Jackson is now up to 16th. No further changes as the lap completes. Lap 10 – and after a few laps sizing up, there is a bit if a shuffle towards the bottom half of the top ten. Turkington finds a way past Sutton, whilst just ahead Moffat in the other Infiniti gets past Cammish. Crees also manages to pass Rowbottom further down the field for 24th place. Continuing around the lap, Goff climbs to 20th passing Proctor in the process. The lap pans out with O.Jackson getting past Hamilton to take 22nd, and Turkington sets an even faster lap time. Lap 11 – a bit more shuffling of the pack in the early stages. Cook moves up into 9th, with Morgan dropping back. M.Jackson gets into the points, with a nice move to get ahead of Neate. And further down, Smiley swaps with Thompson for 26th. As the lap moves on, an error from Plato sees an opportunity for Moffat to take 4th which is grasped immediately. Moffat struggles to make the move stick though, and Plato is immediately back past to reclaim 4th. As we reach the end of Lap 11 [And I shut the software down for today] the running order is: Jordan, Neal, Oliphant, Plato, Moffat, Cammish, Turkington, Sutton, Cook, Morgan. Jordan took the lead on Lap One and has held it since. Turkington, ballast-free, started 14th and has climbed to 7th. Morgan, having started 3rd has slowly dropped back to 10th – possibly struggling with the ballast. M.Jackson has climbed from 21st into a points position and Boardley has retired. |

the running order is:
Jordan, Neal, Oliphant, Plato, Moffat, Cammish, Turkington, Sutton, Cook, Morgan. Lap 12 – Hill and Ingram rub panels in the first corner, Hill manages to get ahead and takes 12th. Further back, and Cress takes 23rd from Hamilton. Gornall gets a good run in sector two and passes Osborne for 18th. Lap 13 – and Plato tries to get into a podium position. He passes Oliphant but runs wide on exit and Oliphant can get back ahead. Moffat tries to follow Plato through, but gets caught up a bit and loses momentum. Cammish takes advantage and passes up into 5th. Hill passes Butcher to take 11th. The incidents continue further round the lap. Sutton gets into a tangle with Turkington and comes of worse. Getting out of shape, Cook passes and now sits on the back of the BMW. Crees has a tussle with O.Jackson but fails to make the move stick. Hamilton and Rowbottom are the beneficiaries whilst Jelley also gains a place on Thompson, who is now the last of the runners. Thompson immediately fights back though and retakes the place at the next corner. Just ahead of them, Gornall passes Bushell for 17th. Lap 14, the battle between Jelley and Thompson continues, with Jelley moving ahead again. Bushell slips down even further though, as Osborne climbs to 18th. In sector 2, Morgan manages to get past Sutton, despite carrying ballast. Disaster strikes for Gornall though. He appears to have lost power and pulls off to the side of the track. Retiring the car in a safe place, the rest of the field streams past. Lap 15, Ingram passes Chilton towards the bottom end of the points, moving up to 13th. Just outside the points, team-mates Goff and Bushell swap places, with Goff now ahead in 18th. Onto Lap 16, final lap, and drivers are still looking to make an impression on the season. Cammish has been pushing for a while now, and finally gets past Plato to take 4th place. That makes it BMW, Honda, BMW, Honda at the front. Jelley gets past Thompson again, in the battle to not be the last runner. Bushell and Goff swap back, with Goff not having made any ground on the cars ahead. Bushell immediately capitalises and overtakes Proctor to take 18th. Just behind, Hamilton sneaks another place at the end and takes 21st. The bottom end of the points positions sees Ingram, M.Jackson and Chilton tangle. Chilton comes out ahead in 13th, followed by M.Jackson and Ingram in 15th. Coming out of the final chicane, Moffat takes advantage of the slowing Plato and takes 5th – with the Astra looking to be struggling a bit after the earlier incident with the Honda. The final order is: 1-Jordan, 2-Neal, 3-Oliphant, 4-Cammish, 5-Moffat, 6-Plato, 7-Turkington, 8-Cook, 9-Morgan, 10-Sutton, 11-Hill, 12-Butcher, 13-Chilton, 14-M.Jackson, 15-Ingram, 16-Neate, 17-Osborne, 18-Bushell, 19-Proctor, 20-Goff, 21-Hamilton, 22-O.Jackson, 23-Rowbottom, 24-Crees, 25-Smiley, 26-Jelley, 27-Thompson, DNF-Gornall and Boardley |

Now for the draw for the Race 3 reverse grid.
And, the highest possible number comes out, with 12 places being reversed. That means the top 10 on the grid for race 3 is: Butcher, Hill, Sutton, Morgan, Cook, Turkington, Plato, Moffat, Cammish, Oliphant. With the grid formed up, the race starts. Away from the line, Sutton is straight out of the blocks and up to 1st place. Turkington gains a place to 5th. Oliphant makes a great start up to 7th. As the back end of the grid gets away, Rowbottom looks to be going well moving up to 20th. Hamilton makes a slow start, and as they field heads into sector 1, Crees also gets past leaving Hamilton in 24th. Proctor passes Osborne for 18th. As the pack settles into the lap, Neal slips by Cammish to move into the top ten. Rowbottom continues to make progress and gets by Osborne to take 19th. O.Jackson slips behind Cress, who takes 22nd. Finishing the lap, Jelley is making every effort to salvage something from the weekend, passing Hamilton into the chicane to take 24th. Leading the first lap is Sutton, followed by Butcher, Hill, Morgan, Turkington, Cook, Oliphant, Plato, Moffat with Neal rounding out the top 10. Boardley is sat in last, behind Gornall and Thompson. |

Leading the first lap is Sutton, followed by Butcher, Hill, Morgan, Turkington, Cook, Oliphant, Plato, Moffat with Neal rounding out the top 10. Boardley is sat in last, behind Gornall and Thompson.
Lap 2, and Cammish moves up into the top ten, passing his team mate to retake the place. At the front, Butcher gets up the inside of Sutton into turn one, manages to hold the line and takes the lead of the race. Crees picks up a puncture towards the end of the lap. He pulls into the pits for a wheel change, which seems him back on track but now running last. Lap3, Thompson gets past Smiley towards the back and takes 25th. Up towards the sharp end, Turkington gets a good traction out of the corner and pulls past Morgan to take 4th. Proctor moves past Bushell part way through the lap and takes 17th, looking to move into the points. Towards the end of the lap, Goff and Osborne tangle. Osborne can continue, but Goff drops off the pace as he recovers and loses two places. O.Jackson and Jelley are the beneficiaries moving up to 21st and 22nd. Lap 4, Cammish continues to make good progress, passing Moffat to move up to 9th place. Gornall and Smiley come together, and both leave the track momentarily. Smiley gets back on before anyone catches up, but Gornall takes a bit longer to recover and must let Boardley and Crees – who is recovering from his earlier puncture – past before re-joining at the back of the field. The pack continues to shuffle a bit in the second sector. Cook gets past Morgan to take 5th place. O.Jackson is passed by Jelley and Goff in the space of one corner to drop to 23rd. Cress continues his recovery and moves past Boardley into 27th. Right at the front is where the most interest lies though, as Sutton retakes 1st place from Butcher. As the lap concludes, Turkington crosses the line in 3rd, having moved past Hill. He also sets the fastest lap so far in the process. Lap 5, Neal follows Cammish’s lead and moves past Moffat into the top ten. The Hondas look like they are carrying the weight better than Moffat’s Infiniti. Sutton and Butcher continue to trade the lead, with Butcher moving back to the front this time. Crossing the line, the running order is Butcher, Sutton, Turkington, Hill, Cook, Morgan, Oliphant, Plato, Cammish and Neal. Lap 6, Smiley moves past Thompson for 25th. Up towards the front, Oliphant picks up a place and takes 6th from Morgan. More pack shuffling, as Goff passes Jelley for 21st, and just ahead Osborne passes Rowbottom for 19th. In the leading bunch, Morgan continues to drop down the order as Plato picks up 7th. As the leaders pull onto the final straight, Turkington gets better traction out of the corner than Sutton and manages to pull ahead over the line for 2nd place. Further back Goff pulls into the pits from 21st. It looks like he’s been off into the gravel somewhere and has picked up debris. The team quickly clean it all out and he’s back on his way but doesn’t get out in time to avoid running last. Lap 7, and we might be seeing the typical BTCC Race 3 action. Plato, Morgan and Cammish all try and make the same apex and look to be going through 3-abreast. Something must give though, and like a cork Cammish pops out in front, gaining two places in the process. Further back, when Boardley, Gornall and Crees all arrive at the same corner together, another 3-abreast attempt is made. Again though, there are winners and losers. Crees pops out like a cork, but backwards dropping back two places to 28th. Smiley looks to overtake Hamilton, attempting a move around the outside. Hamilton runs his car wide on the corner exit through, and Smiley takes to the grass. Unable to slow the car down, Smiley is into the barrier and that is race over. Plato is a bit out of shape following the incident with Morgan and Cammish, and Morgan manages to get by and reclaim 8th. At the front, the pressure from Turkington is too much for Butcher, who concedes the place and Turkington moves to the front of the field. As a hectic lap draws to a close, Jordan gets past Neal to move into the top ten. M.Jackson picks up 13th from Chilton. Bushell drops behind Osborne into 19th. Moving clear at the front, Turkington sets a new fastest lap. The running order is now: Turkington, Butcher, Sutton, Hill, Cook, Oliphant, Cammish, Morgan, Plato, Jordan. With Smiley out, Goff is running at the back behind Gornall. Lap 8, and the drivers just outside the points continue to battle for position. Neate and Proctor tangle, giving Osborne the chance to sneak by and pick up 16th. Chilton gets back past M.Jackson as the two battle for 13th place. Meanwhile the other Jackson moves past Jelley into 21st. As they move into the chicane, Jordan lines up a move on Plato, which is successful, and he takes 9th place. Lap 9, and seizing the chance, Ingram also passes M.Jackson as he regains his momentum, and Bushell takes 18th from Proctor. The BMWs are looking strong as the lap progresses, with Oliphant and Jordan both gaining another place. Sutton drops out of the podium places for the first time, as Hill gets by. Further back Jelley and O.Jackson trade places again in a battle that looks like it might run and run. Hill is looking good as the lap rounds out, and out of the chicane pulls past Butcher to cross the line in 2nd, hoping to make ground on the leader Turkington. The tussle between Jelley and O.Jackson looked to be increasingly tense, and as was becoming increasingly likely, ends in tears. Side by side into the chicane, Jelley can hold the line and O.Jackson is across the gravel, into the barrier and out of the race. Lap 10, and after a quiet start to the lap, Moffat makes a lunge up the inside of Neal. The move is not on and running wide both Chilton and Ingram take that chance to move up, leaving Moffat in 14th. Over the line, and M.Jackson has dropped out of the points, being passed by Osborne on the straight. Lap 11, and the drivers are heading into the last few laps of the day. Thompson and Boardley tussle towards the back of the field. The outcome sees Gornall and Cress gain a place each. Neal moves into the top ten, sliding past Plato in the process. Oliphant shows that the BMW is good on its tyres and carries weight well, snatching a place from Sutton to move up to 4th. In sector two, Proctor overtakes Bushell to take 18th. As a result, Bushell is forced wide and onto the grass. Recovery takes a while, and as Bushell gets back on the track he almost collects some of the other cars. Eventually everything settles down, but Bushell is now running last. Goff and Thompson both sneak an extra place amid the chaos, with Rowbottom taking up 19th place. Lap 12 feels like the calm before the storm. M.Jackson gets back into the points to take 15th from Osborne. Gornall gains a place on Goff to move up to 25th. Lap 13, Boardley gets a run down the straight and closes on Hamilton going into the first corner. Hamilton shuts the door and there is contact between the two. Hamilton spins but manages to gather it up and keep going. Boardley is not so lucky though and looks to have suspension failure. Pulling off to the side, he’s parked up and that is his day done. In sector two, Plato slips a further place back into 12th as he is passed by Chilton. Looking off the pace, Plato loses another place in the final sector as he is passed by Ingram, dropping to 13th. Outside of the points, Thompson passes Crees to take 22nd. Lap 14, and we now have two BMWs in podium places as Oliphant gets past Butcher. Further back, and Moffat slips back a place, possibly due to the weight he’s carrying. M.Jackson moves up and the Astras are now running together. Oliphant continues his run through the lap, catching and passing Hill quickly to make it a BMW one-two. Plenty of change at the back of the field as the lap concludes. Jelley gets past Rowbottom to take 19th. Thompson gets past Hamilton to take 21st. Finally, Goff, Bushell and Gornall all battle it out, with Gornall dropping two places to 26th and is now the last of the runners. Lap 15, Jordan, Cammish and Morgan cross the line 3-abreast battling for 7th. Everyone holds position into the first corner though to stay Cammish, from Jordan, from Morgan. Hamilton slips a place back after being passed by Crees for 22nd. Cammish and Jordan continue to run line astern, and on the back of Cook an opportunity to pass arises. Cammish squeezes inside, and before Cook can cut back across Jordan is also through. Cammish up to 6th, Cook down to 8th. In sector 3, Goff passes Hamilton to take 23rd over the line. Lap 16 and heading into the last lap of the day it’s Turkington, Oliphant, Hill, Butcher, Sutton, Cammish, Jordan, Cook, Morgan and Neal making up the top ten. At the bottom end of the points, M. Jackson slips by Plato into 13th. Plato continues to struggle for pace, and it appears he may be nursing an issue on the car. Sector two sees Jelley move past Proctor to take 18th, whilst Gornall takes 25th from Bushell. Little change at the front as the race ends, with Turkington laying a marker for the season lowering the fastest lap time again after his issues with qualifying at the start of the weekend. Further down though, as we possibly expected, there is a lot of mayhem in the midfield. Goff and Crees get caught up mid-corner, with Goff taking to the grass while Cress spins in front of the closing pack. When it all shakes out, Hamilton is the biggest winner gaining two places to take 22nd over the line. Gornall also gains two to take 23rd, whilst Cress crossed the line last in 26th. The final order is: 1- Turkington 2- Oliphant 3- Hill 4- Butcher 5- Sutton 6- Cammish 7- Jordan 8- Cook 9- Morgan 10- Neal 11- Chilton 12- Ingram 13- M.Jackson 14- Plato 15- Moffat 16- Osborne 17- Neate 18- Jelley 19- Proctor 20- Rowbottom 21- Thompson 22- Hamilton 23- Gornall 24- Goff 25- Bushell 26- Crees DNF - Boardley DNF - O.Jackson DNF - Smiley |

The race begins, and off the line the front three are away fine. Ingram gets a good start and manages to get past Oliphant to move up into 4th. Further back, Osborne bogs down, and drops 6 places from 12th down to 18th. The RWDs of Jelley and Sutton make good starts, Jelley up to 10th and Sutton up to 15th. As the field settles down, Plato retakes 10th place from Jelley. O. Jackson tries to follow Plato through, but Jelley shuts the door and O. Jackson must take evasive action. Taking to the grass, he drops right to the back of the field. A bit of jostling for position between sees Oliphant back up to 4th, Neal up to 5th and Ingram down to 6th as the leaders complete the first lap. Jelley and Plato continue to battle, and Jelley crosses the line in 10th.
Lap 2, and as the field moves across the line, Morgan has pulled into the pits. It looks like something is wrong with the car, as he pulls into his pits and gets straight out. Gloves and Helmet are off, and that looks like his race is done. The team will now be working on the car to get it out for Race 2. Lap 3, Moffat overtakes Hill to take 11th place. Further back, M.Jackson is trying to recover from his poor grid position, and moves up to 21st. Turkington tops the time sheet for fastest lap, running in 2nd place. Lap 4, Plato moves back up past Jelley to take 9th place. Neate moves into 16th overtaking Osborne. Over the line, Cammish pulls clear of Chilton to take 7th. M.Jackson continues to move forward too and is up to 20th. Lap 5, and the field looks to be settling into a bit of a rhythm. Neate and Osborne swap places again, with Osborne now up into 16th. Butcher takes 14th place from Bushell. Lap 6 underway, and there is a change for the lead. Turkington pulls past Jordan and now runs out front. Towards the back of the field, Cress takes 22nd from Rowbottom and Goff takes 25th from Boardley. M.Jackson picks up another place to move into 19th. Just ahead, Osborne tries to get into the points by passing Bushell. The move fails though, and out of position he is passed by Neate and Gornall. Lap 7, Plato gains another place as he moves up to 8th, overtaking Chilton. Neate is looking racy, moving up into the points places ahead of Bushell. Thompson also gains a place, taking 20th from Proctor. Lap 8 sees O.Jackson move off the back of the field, leaving Hamilton now running last. Proctor slips back another place to 22nd behind Crees. M.Jackson continues to head towards the points, picking up 18th after a mistake from Gornall that also sees him fall behind Osborne. Lap 9, and both Dynamics drivers are sizing up moves. Neal manages to get past the BMW of Oliphant and is now running 4th, whilst Cammish also gains a place to move past Ingram into 6th. The top ten at the end of the lap is: 1- Turkington, 2- Jordan, 3- Cook, 4- Neal, 5- Oliphant, 6- Cammish, 7- Ingram, 8- Plato, 9- Chilton, 10- Jelley. Lap 10, and as the lead cars come through, Bushell darts into the pits from 16th. The team have the bonnet up, give the car a check over, and release him back on his way. Unfortunately, he’s dropped to the back of the field. Lap11, Chilton manages to pull a move off and gets around Plato to take 8th place. Towards the back end of the points, Sutton takes 12th place from Hill. Whilst just outside the points, the Audis switch with Thompson moving up to 18th. Action at the front again as the lap concludes, with Jordan moving back past Turkington to take the lead. Cammish also gains a place, managing to oust Oliphant from 5th to leave him just behind Neal in 4th. Towards the back of the field, Hamilton moves past O.Jackson up into 26th. Lap 12, M.Jackson’s run might be coming to an end. He’s dropped off the pace a little and is passed by Thompson for 17th. Lap 13, and Plato climbs a place up into 8th, getting back past Chilton. The rest of the field remains stable. Onto Lap 14, and the battle to get into the points continues. This time it is Osborne who drops a couple of places to 18th, being passed by Thomson and M.Jackson in the process. Proctor gets a good run onto the finish straight and can squeeze past Rowbottom over the line to take 21st. Lap 15, Plato looks to gain another place with an overtake on Ingram. The move doesn’t come off though, and Plato ends up being forced wide. This opens the door for Chilton and Jelley to both come through, dropping Plato to 10th. At the front, the two BMWs swap places again with Turkington back into the lead. Hill climbs a place to 12th, getting past Sutton. M.Jackson now sits just outside the points in 16th, having pulled a move on Thompson. Lap 16, and M.Jackson couldn’t make the move stick. Thompson pulls straight past again on a different line and retakes 16th. Towards the rear, and three HARD cars into on corner doesn’t go. Goff, Hamilton and Boardley all try and take the same apex. Boardley gets spun around and it looks like the suspension has failed. He’s out and hoping to get repaired in time for Race two. Further round the lap, and Cress moves up to 19th with a pass on Osborne. Lap 17, things are quiet at the front. Outside of the points though, and a few places are being traded. Crees moves ahead of Gornall into 18th. Rowbottom also gains a place on Proctor to take 21st. Over the line, and the seemingly race-long battle for 16th sees M.Jackson back up, with Crees 17th and now Thompson in 18th. After the previous coming together, Hamilton passes Goff for 24th. Lap 18, and finally M.Jackson gets into the points. A mistake by Neate allows M.Jackson to pass, and he seizes the chance to take 15th. Rowbottom is up to 10th, passing Osborne. Hamilton also makes another place, taking 23rd from Smiley. Lap 19, and no change at the front. In the minor places, Proctor Smiley and Hamilton end up 3-abreast. Each of them is impeded, and Goff seizes the opportunity to pass all three of them up to 22nd. After getting into the points, M.Jackson pulls into the pits at the end of the lap, and the team are checking over the car. Lap 20, and M.Jackson is released back out of his pits, but almost all of the field has gone through. Leaving the pit lane, he is alongside O.Jackson. M.Jackson tries to get ahead to avoid losing any more places, but there is contact between the two and they are both onto the grass. Bushell can get by before the Jacksons recover. Despite his efforts, and to the cost of O.Jackson, M.Jackson is nor running last. Team Orders look like they might be in play for the Team Dynamics drivers, with Neal allowing Cammish past into 4th who immediately sets about closing the gap to Cook in 3rd. Lap 21, and as we head into the final few laps, Neate attempts a pass on Butcher. Butcher defends, and as a result Thompson and Crees can get by. Cress is now in 15th. Moffat attempts to move up the order with a pass on Plato. Plato is robust in his defence and contacts the rear of Moffat’s car. Moffat comes off worse, and his suspension looks to have failed. He’s able to get the car back to the pits, but his race has come to an end. Immediately behind the incident, Jelley takes avoiding action which allows Hill to move up into the top ten. Slightly further forward, Chilton manages to get a run on Oliphant out of the last corner and takes 6th over the line. Lap 22, Plato moves past Ingram and is back up to 8th. Sutton appears to be struggling a bit on his tyres, and Butcher gets past for 12th. O.Jackson also manages to get past Bushell. Over the line, Proctor is slow out of the last corner. Hamilton and Smiley both pass him on the straight. Lap 23, Goff gets by Osborne to move up into 20th. At the front, Cammish catches and passes Cook. Cook immediately fights back though, and both drivers see their pace suffer. Neal spies the chance and slips by both up into 3rd place. Cammish is still 4th and Cook drops to 5th. Crees is now dropping down the order. It looks like a slow puncture and he pulls into the pits. The team swap the tyre and send him back out, but it looks like it will just be to check everything else is ok on the car as he is at the back of the field. Lap 24, final lap. Osborne climbs a place into 19th, getting by Hamilton. At the front, the leading cars are battling right to the end, with no one in the top 7 looking safe. Out of the last corner, the drag race to the line sees Neal manage to pip Jordan right at the end to take 2nd place. Chilton also passes Cook to sneak 5th. The final order is: 1- Turkington, 2- Neal, 3- Jordan, 4- Cammish, 5- Chilton, 6- Cook, 7- Oliphant, 8- Plato, 9- Ingram, 10- Hill, 11- Jelley, 12- Butcher, 13- Sutton, 14- Thomspon, 15- Neate, 16- Gornall, 17- Rowbottom, 18- Goff, 19- Osborne, 20- Hamilton, 21- Smiley, 22- Proctor, 23- O.Jackson, 24- Bushell, 25- M.Jackson, 26- Crees, DNF- Moffat, DNF- Boardley DNF- Morgan |
