DTM / Supercar Event...?

We all know TC is looking to expand our series. DTM is a very similar european championship. A joint event would be good to expand our sport. There have been rumors of the European cars at PI, so they could be happy to oblige.
And i'm sure we'd all love to see the V8s thrash around the Nurburgring, norisring, A1 ring or Hockenheim!

We would only see the V8's thrash around European tracks on TV, unless you buy me two business class airline tickets.
Not a good idea.

I don't think so. Why would the Krauts import a support event for the local series when they already have plenty.

And if you think TC would play second fiddle to DTM then you've gt another thing coming.

Irrelevant argument. Won't happen. Why on earth would the DTM circus want to go to the trouble and expense to come down here? And on the other hand, why would anyone in Europe put their hand in their pocket to bring the V8 Supertaxis to Europe??

there is no way on gods green earth that the two classes would ever join forces for an event, but Phillip Island owner Lynn Fox has had discussions with Mercedes' Norbert Haug and other DTM bosses and is keen to bring the series to Australia, and its looking good so far. I think the Supercars would be faster judging by specs. but i would personnaly much prefer to see the DTM series any day!

So obviously DTM must look down on us lowly V8 SuperCAR fans from on high. I cant see either competition wanting to join forces. As said they are different spec anyway. Besides Supercar are concentrating on a worth while area in Asia Pacific. Forget Europe.

The DTM cars would be much faster than V8Supercars. They are lighter, more technically advanced, and their 4 litre engines aren't that far off horsepower wise than what V8Supercars produce.

mixxer has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
actually they are about 150hp off the V8's but weigh 300 kg less.
Interesting that people who bag the V8's for not resembling the standard road going cars want a silhouette formula like DTM to race down under.

I agree. Why do we get excited at the thought of carbon fibre silhouette sports sedans? V8's are already half way there in the technology/specification race, but their racing is at least as good, if not much better. (except for the biffing and barging).

DTM shouldn't be referred to as touring cars either, people are trying to say its right they are called touring cars, evidence of that is found in the previous threads regarding world touring cars.

The difference between the two come down that DTM is far more interesting and exciting that the v8 taxi's and doesn't have an arrogant and destructive promoter runnning them
