The worst ever car to race at Le Mans!
Lots of candidates here!
The Aston Martin DB7 of 1994 comes to mind as does the Janspeed TR8! |

Not sure either of those 2 ever made the race. The DB7 was at Pre Q's in 95 but not the race, the Janspeed TR never made it to the grid.
I waold say the Sivama Motor Griffone Lancia LC1's that had a roof put on them. Nasty. |

Can I go back and check what I said the last couple of times this was raised.........
Seriously, for me, its the 1992 Debora. A complete and utter embarrassment. (Although the 87 Chevron was pretty awful, I agree). Last edited by Aysedasi; 6 Jul 2005 at 18:28. |

Renard Delmas D1 BMW from 1982
Lke some of the others, a car that did not race at Le Mans as it never got beyond Practice. It made the Debora look like Joest it was that bad. The Canery Eagle was for sale a while back. I can remember seeing that thing leave the pits a couple of times always to return sounding worse than the last time. |

The Strandell that DNQ'd in about 1987 looked pretty amateurish.
The Chevron blob from the same era was not exactly speedy. But what about the Nardi from 1955? Literally blown off track... |

The Mini Marcos! The Peninsula TVR!!! Why did it get an entry over the much faster LNT cars (but still slower than the Porsche 996!)

For looks, it has to be that Chevron in 87. It's like they built that thing in their backyard.
How did they turn the wheels! And look even the Gendarme is frowning with displeasure in the background! http://www.racingsportscars.com/phot...-06-14-113.jpg |

I can't go with the Zonda. Even though the performance was woeful, its still a good looking car - which just about saves it in my book.....

The MiG was magnificent compared to the Norma-MGN, which was highly successful until the moment when they tried to start it.
But neither raced au Mans... |

Jose Thibault's car was entered as a Chevron-ROC in 87, and as the 'TJ-01' in 88, when it didn't get any further than scrutineering.... there is a link between the two though- the bodywork on the Chevron/TJ definitely looks as if it came from the Stehmo- and in-between, it seems to have spent some time on Jean-Claude Ferrarin's Isolia, which appeared a few times in 85/6 (but never at LM?). I've got a vague memory that the Isolia was Chevron-based (with either a BMW engine or a DFV?) as well- could they have been one and the same car...? I think I remember reading somewhere that the Thibault team apparently found their Chevron chassis gathering dust in a garage a few months before Le Mans- might have been better if they'd left it there... ensign14 mentioned the Norma-MGN- which of course 'appeared' the same year as the Eagle- and people complain about the ACO's entry selections now...... |
