Mondeo Man33 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
1994 Touring Car World Cup

I wonder if anyone might be able to help?

For some time now I've been trying to find a copy of the '94 World Cup from Donington on video but with no success, all the obvious sources including Duke Video have been tried and do not have copies, so I was wondering if any Ten-Tenthers who have the original Grandstand transmission would be able to copy it for me? I will of course provide a blank video or DVD and pay any postage costs etc...

This is pretty much my last ditch effort to find this so any help at all would be massively appreciated!!!

Steve

If you're not in any hurry, just watch Ebay for several months, copies come up every so often.

Any particular reason why you're looking for it? If you're interested, I have a World Cup sew on patch for $6US with shipping if you're interested.

I have looked on Ebay but the only ones I've seen so far have been the 1993 World Cup from Monza; indeed I don't even know if the '94 race was ever put out as a video, but I do know that it was shown as an hour long programme or so as part of BBC Grandstand back then

I think it was released - but like you I've never seen a copy of it anywhere. I've managed to get a 1993 copy from ebay and have seen other copies of 93, but not seen the 94 copy anywhere - so I'd also be interested in any suggestions members have

I'm pretty sure I've seen the Donington World Cup on Ebay. But I agree, the Monza is probably more readily available on Ebay. But if you've been looking this long, it won't hurt to keep checking Ebay every so often. OTOH, you can set up a favourite search so Ebay automatically emails you if the item ever comes up again.

I'm suprised the adminstrators haven't move this thread yet??

kmchow - could the Donnington race your thinking of be the TOCA Shootout from 1993, which was released on video.

regarding 1993, it can be purchased from duke video.

1994 was definatly filmed, was even shown here in Australia, and i have seen various pieces of footage from this race used over the years.

The 1995 World Cup wasn't even filmed as far as i know, because TV coverage was canned on the Friday.

Perhaps you finally got me there-perhaps it's the Donington Shoout out that I see on Ebay.

1995 race at Paul Richard was filmed, because I remember I saw it on tv... it was shown here in Italy by TMC

I thought I recall there was a big fuss about every network wanting to cover the race, but none willing to share the footage immediately or wanted the first to broadcast it first? Or was it something about ownership rights? I guess TMC got the last minute deal? It's a shame it was never rebroadcast elsewhere or released on tape?

I am pretty sure I have got it on tape. I recorded it off the BBC. They showed the races although it was a fairly poor attempt...it wasn't that long.

Eurosport didn't show it did they?

I dug out an old copy of 'Super Touring Magazine', and it says that only Eurosport's live coverage was canned, rather than all coverage.

It's a shame all thse old races/series aren't available on VHS. I would pay $20 US to get that on tape. Being "retro" is the hip thing to do these days, why not release "retro" touring car tapes? I should be in marketing!!

I'm sure I have it on tape somewhere, and can easily convert it to electronic format - most likely Mpeg4 for good quality. I will need to check. As regards Eurosport, I seem to remember they were going to cover the race live, but they did slip in delayed highlights later. It was 13 years ago, after all. Since I do not own any copyright, I could not charge for anything apart from postage.... If you are still interested, post a reply.

What year are you talking about Slartibartfast?

I have managed to get a copy of the 1995 race at Paul Richard, but commentary is in French

The other two were on Eurosport, and have various recordings from when they were originally shown.
