2012 Auto One V8Ute Racing Series (Merged)
Its here... the mean, loud fighting machines are BACK!
With a national calendar that shows a similar undercard round package to the V8Supercar development series for a fraction of the cost (and perhaps the notoriety!) 2012 Calendar...
Website Here There are some interesting names in the series winners list... quite a few that have gone on to do bigger and better things too...
So... who's on for the series win this year? |

and the future?
I usually enjoy the utes, I would think this has to be the future though. at my work, which is predominately middle age blokes, the car park is full of vehicles like hiluxes etc, very few falcon and commodore utes |

it may be the future, but how will a high CoG vehicle like a hilux go around a tarmac race circuit? crap is the answer.
So will that mean they have to lower them, which takes them back to having a stance like the Falcon/Commodore, or go down the path of what the yanks do for CWTS? |

Wasnt there a ute series for 4 cylinder utes back in the late '90's? Mr McKay, V8Supercars' favourite reporter, may even have been a 'factory' race driver for Mr Siddle's Nissan equipe, alongside Warwick Rooklyn
Is this series likely to end up as some sort of Camping World Truck Series? But with more makes... Quite how the 16 Ford v's 16 Holden franchise thingumy hangs together might be interesting to explore |

What engine will they be using in the Ford FG utes? Is the supercharged engine allowed?

I wonder, would the Hiluxes all be sponsored by someone like Avis or Europcar? I think I have seen "races" between them already, on the Thursday before a V8 meeting

Who remembers the one-make Toyota Landcruiser ute series from the same time? |

I have vague memories of the sport utilities running at one of the Sandown truck racing meetings.

There may be an overall power increase. I assume that in the past the 6 litre commodores were gagged but now maybe the Ford will be.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the front guys to get a handle(pun intended) on the FG after running so long in the BF. I think Cam McConville will be a big chance for the title this year. He has gotten the hang of the ute and finished the year off very strongly. Ryal Haris will be strong if he is back and the usual suspects Seiders,Pither,Fisher,Elsgood. I think Rhys McNally could pull a few surprises this year as well. |

It is the Coyote engine, minus supercharger. The commodore utes have been running an inlet restrictor. Now they have gone to Motec there is also now tuning modifications that could be done.

Sounds a bit dodgy without the supercharger........5 litres vs 6 litres.

Interesting that someone has bought Carson's car, as he has a written off BF shell as the FG is owned by V8 utes. |
