Jim Beam to end DJR deal

Word has it that an announcement is imminent that Jim Beam will cease sponsorship with DJR...so where does this leave the team now???

Jim Beam will stay on as a series sponsor, so we won't loose the Jim Beam girls

Well that's what ive been most concerned about, DJR can sort themselves out (Rock Mobile anyone?) but I wouldn't want to hear these lasses are out of a job.

Is it possible Jim Beam may move to a different team? Jack Daniels are going to get bulk coverage next year with the new car, could it just be that with Lucky 7 likely to go, SP Tools may leave with SVG to FPR, could Jim Beam look at another team who will no doubt get equal coverage...?

Just throwing it out there....

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!

Beam said that both it and DJR are eager to “continue their successful partnership with a low level sponsorship arrangement next year.”

Sad day for DJR (although there have been sader) Always thought it was a matter of time

thought this was intriguing

V8 legend Johnson was grateful for Beam’s support over the past six years.

“Jim Beam has been an invaluable partner providing us with great support over the last six years, and we couldn’t have had the successes we’ve had without them,” he said.

“We thank them for their support and look forward to welcoming a new naming rights partner for 2013.”

Correct, but Finance Ezi to be precise.

He has been hanging around DJR a bit on Gold Coast lately and he is the one trying to initiate the Mazda V8 Supercar.

Dick helped launch the Finance Ezi V8 Touring Cars team earlier this year.

So the DJR house of cards has fallen over again, They are now playing 'go fish' for a new sponsor, unfortunatly all thats left in the deck are the Joker's and a mix of 'Old Maid' and 'Uno' cards. Doesn't look good.

FFF are better looking else where to take there licience if they want a competetive drive.

Even the DJR cars sound alot different to all the other V8's in the field.

With Jim Beam retaining its rights to sell its products why are they not a major car sponsor? Without major car sponsorship NO COMPANY should be allowed major rights of events or series. PERIOD.

That's a very good point. Not sure of what the $$$ are, but it'd be interesting to see the ROI on tipping money into signage on the side of a car, versus the tangible benefits that come with sponsoring the series (especially if that car you're sponsoring is doing as well as the DJR cars )

Maybe I'm missing the point, but plenty of companies sponsor the series or races which doesn't sponsor cars? Bigpond/Telstra, XXX, Clipsal, Dunlop, Dick Smith, Sucrogen, SkyCity, etc...

Sounds like DJR could fold at any moment and with SBR having less support in 2013 than they have currently from Ford, it seems that there will be two teams that struggle for results even more in the future than they presently do........so the questions to be asked:

1. Is the series slowly going down the gurgler?
2. Why would anyone want to sponsor a team that is continually running at the tail end of the field?
3. What is the category doing to support these teams with less funding that never win anything?

I'm interested in that SBR comment,

it was a bit unclear. so i will answer both.

They will have no support from ford next year

or they will have more support from Erebus next year than they have from Ford this year

There's no reason to suggest that SBR/Erebus' commercial team isn't already working away at suring up the budget for next season.

Same goes for all teams. Remember, just because the Funny Pages (AA) haven't 'reported' on it, doesn't mean hasn't, or isn't going to happen.
