After so many jokes, can you tell me both if the question was too weird or something else? I like the idea of asking something related to historic racing and another post the answer and a relevant picture. Am I wrong? Hope not.

Everybody forgot about the Climax Dauphine?

As long as it was good fun and the questions were solvable that’s what matters. But maybe tweak them slightly if people think they are too hard. We do enjoy talking about different aspects of racing and it gives us something to do. Just need to keep people like us occupied

Back to the thread! Might be too easy for GCC. What are these & what is the common link? Sorry about the quality of the last one.

An easy one to celebrate curfew and lock down. Le Mans. Over the years what was supposed the drivers to carry with during the race? Mandatory or suggested. Several answers accepted even the ones I forgot!

In early years did they not have to carry representative ballast relative to the passenger seats in the car. ie a persons weight of ballast per passenger seat.

Also in later years a minimum 'luggage' space and I remember something regarding spare wheel to be carried. The GT40 seems to ring a bell as being affected with the luggage space. But that could be a bad memory and imagination.

Its the idea EB. Moons ago ACO invented strange things,,like a "valise" to put in a luggage compartment and a spare wheel. Then the spare wheel was mandatory in some categories only, like GTP. I think the suitcase is always up to date for GT's.

A valise hehehe. Not a word you hear so much these days. Reminds me of my late Father who when we were travelling always used to refer to "Where did you put my valise" or at an airport my role was to "Guard my valise"! etc.
Happy days.

In french racer language "mettre une valise" is tu put a competitor miles away behind or to achieve a much better lap time during Q. Not that I use it much those days… Happy souvenirs!

I finish with the Le Mans things. Back in the day, the drivers could do some spannering on the track but they had to carry all the necessary spare parts and tools. May be you remember why a shovel, as found in Le Monstre trunk by Iain, was a must.

Monte Carlo again. In '59, the "équipage" of the winning Citroën was somewhat special. Why?
During decades, the entrants were allowed to stop on the road for a special occasion. What occasion? By who?

Was it the first front wheel drive car to win the Monte? I know it was the first car since 1911 to win the rally having started in Paris.
