I still think he needs to beat 7 WDCs.

If you don't see the difference between Lewis and most of the other drivers on the grid after today's race.....well, I pity you really
No way was the Merc and it's inability to put heat into tyres the best car today, but one driver had the patience and the skill to dominate, the other finished 14th a lap down Case closed |

In motor racing, the devil is in the detail. Obviously you like the result.
Never mind GOAT, is Hamilton better than Nigel Mansell? The answer is possibly not that obvious. |

Yes. He is better than Nigel Mansell. The devil is, indeed, in the details with that one.

I'd like to take your opinion on face value, but I can't atm.
Hamilton's had a better career. But that's doesn't make him the better driver. |

You can't take my opinion on face value because you assume I'm a Lewis fan. The others here will tell you I'm far from it. I just know what I'm watching

Seems the thread has become a bit fickle. Yes, Hamilton's case is stronger after today but he was far from alone in performing out there and I think we have a lot of data to sift through regarding track conditions and car setup on tyres (see Stroll's calamitous second stint after an early race that made him look like a GOAT contender) before we all bite on whether he is the GOAT and all of that nonsense. Definitely one of the great drives of Formula One though.

you dont need to sift through the data to see that it was an outstanding drive. |

Well i still do not actually like him, but you have to admit that was a championship drive for sure, currently no one else on his level.

The real question is if he is better than David Coulthard.

Only one thing to say and that goes to Toto. He's the greatest of this time. And based on today's performance who could argue?

He might be a better driver but not sure he would be a good presenter, he has a habit of forcing his views on others and that does not go down with some people. Lets stick to Lewis driving and Coulthard doing the tv stuff

Yep. I know he's had plenty of money with which to create the best team, but he's done an incredible job. You only have to see his reactions when something (occasionally) goes wrong to see that the man is a winner, through and through.

Ted is best on any coverage and he’s certainly not insipid like the Coulthard. |

I think Peter was quoting Toto about Lewis, when asked on C4 by the presenter "Is Lewis the GOAT"....and Toto very sensibly (and correctly) made the "Greatest of this time" response...... Which isn't to say that Toto hasn't done a great job |

Because F1 has changed so much over the years, I think to say he is greatest of this time, is the only realistic way of looking at it.
