I miss Team Engstler. I was hope they come back to the WTCR grid, but it seems they are not.

I'm looking forward to the season. Quality grid.

I'm still concerned that it'll turn into a race of the best Hyundai driver. The signs were all there in the TCR Int races last year. For the sake of the series, I hope I'm wrong.

As for Tiago — Poor chap clearly isn't in a good place. If he was only able to do a few non-full-speed laps during testing at this point, I'm not sure what the future holds...

agreed.

HYUNDAI
Tarquini developped the car all previous year. He knows the cars, he knows the tracks and he has lots experience. Muller, Bjork and Michelisz will need probably couple of rounds to get used to new car but once they will be used they will become probably main title contenders.

VW
Huff knows the car and knows the track so if VW Golf will be competitive as last year he can be another favorite for the title. The negative thing is that he will have just one team mate and towards the end of season he won't have lots help.

HONDA
The new Civic seems born well. Guerrieri is ofc the best drivers and one of favorite title. I'm sorry and worry for Monteiro and i hope he can come back soon in the car. The other drivers could get some victory in particular situation like reversed grid or Sh**ty track like Marrakech or Vilareal

AUDI
If i remember well Verney is the only one audi driver who raced full season in international serie. By the way it will depend a lot by the level of audi rs3. I think Verney and Vervish are the best of all audi drivers considering experience and talent.

SEAT
I'm pretty sure that the car is good. The problem are the drivers!
All young and not so much talented.
Oriola is an eternal promise but he races since almost 10 years and altought all Seat support he didnt win anything yet.
Filippi races until now thanks his sponsor and yet after 4 years in wtcc his best career high was last year finishing 12th with the best wtcc car Citroen C-Elysee!
Zengo team still believe that after Michelisz all hungarian drivers are the best of the world and insists with anonimous drivers!

PEUGEOT
The car is new and at the moment it's not possible to judge. Homola showed in past good quality and if the car will be competitive and reliable he could be often in the top 5.

ALFA
Even if i "love" both Alfa's drivers Piedone and Morbidelli i dont see them as favorite to the title. The car doesn't seem at same level of others manufactures and "pullover blue" (marchionne) is more interested to waste money in fake alfa sauber f1 finishing always last rather then help the REAL alfa romeo in wtcr. Anyway the hope is to see the achieve some podium during the season

Andrea Cisotti will be Michelisz Norbi's crew chief/race engineer. They worked together in 2016 in JAS.

Meanwhile BRC Hyundai and M1RA does a test in the Hungaroring:

All-Inkl Honda also does a test there last week.

Other possible hungarian candidate is Zsolt Szabo, who drive the last half last year in the WTCC.
She will race in CEZ

It's not official, but James Thompson should be the third Honda-Munnich driver!

So it is Nagy Norbert and Szabó Zsolt. I hope they can make us forget the teams last 2 season.

Hmmmmm... Another street circuit...
It would be so much better if they visit US, get guest cars from PWC or CTSCC, or even Japan, to push that TCR Japan thing.

Official: Thompson with Munnich BUT only for a part of the season, then his Honda will be driven by Munnich itself.

Now confirmed - https://www.touringcartimes.com/2018...ch-motorsport/

Given Thompson recent history I was going to ask if we are taking bets when he will leave. When was the last time Thommo completed an entire season?
Quote:
The exact length of Thompson’s programme has yet to be revealed, with team boss René Münnich expected to take over at the wheel of the car later in the season.
Oh, nevermind!

I really think that Munnich should let Thompson the whole season if he goes well...

Anyway, now we have 25 cars confirmed. The 26th spot is for the wildcard or we must expect an other name to add?

It's most likely Thompson doesn't want to do all the long-haul traveling in the back half of the year.
