Lol no it hasn't. It starts of as a road car engine and UPGRADED to race

Do they, initial release about the engine said they started with the road car engine. Probably do for both! Not hard to get 600hp from a 5ltr quad cam.

Sideline, cracks me up the fan boys going on about how cool the GTR race car is. It doesn't use a single piece of the road cars drive line

Anyway the conspiracy theories are getting a bit rich, I think you need to get a hobby and get out for some fresh air.

As for the "Holden political machine", if Ford hadn't coughed up 888, Ford would have won everything for the last 5 years. It is that simple. Apart from HRT winning Bathurst, nothing of value has been won by anybody not running 888 machinery for years now.
The results are becoming too predictable and the last thing that should happen is to have the two new manufacturers eternally running around mid-field and everyone pretending that everything is "hunky-dory". Let the new boys compete, see what happens and take action if they are too competitive.

I agree with your comment that Ford "coughed up 888".

Try google, its not the gt1 engine, that's a different development of it. The SC engine is a sleeved version of the one from the patrol and the Kelly's are developing it.
Like a lot of rumours fas, not true!

GT-R is a V6 !... I thought this was a V8 series...

3.8L VR38DETT twin-turbo V6
The 2012 Nissan GT-R is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 engine that generates 530 hp and 448 lb-ft of torque.

But the GT1 GTR uses a V8 developed from the same road car engine that is being developed (differently) for V8 Supercars. The discussion has been about the engine used in GT1.

Working hard. Don't forget that the rules governing each series are different which will help.

Mind you, there is a huge amount of experience, development and history in the current engine configurations so the KR & SBR crews have a big hill to climb.

No doubt that they'll get there but it'll be far from easy - but then, everyone would be doing it if it was easy and where's the satisfaction in that?

Yeah what Tourer said, pretty funny cause they dont run a stock V8 donk in the Altima lol. there isn't much left from the production cars to the racecars you see on TV these days (except the APCC). And peckstar posted the engine specs of that one they use in GT1.

Totally agree - I was being facetious. Running the COTF now with the aero package a known quantity, current engine and all that will give SBR a really good baseline for developing the Benz.

Smart move from a team who are most definitely racers to their core.

Agreed.

Getting it on the track as soon as possible is the only way to go.

The Stones are definately passionate about their racing. They'd re-mortgage their houses to get the cars out there.
