Problems at PROCAR??????
Hot rumour going around that a number of staff have left (or are leaving) PROCAR very suddenly. Shouldn't name names but they are quite senior. Supposedly lots of unhappiness in the camp.

Names? If they have gone then there should be no harm done as all you would be doing is saying who has left....
But it wouldn't be the first time, would it? (Remeber Bill West then Steve Bettes...) |

Ross Palmer has tried a hands-off approach this year, perhaps it isnt working for him. Although doing that 6 weeks out from their biggest gig of the year must be a blow

So which is right - one says 'are going' the other 'have gone(or are going)' - which is it?
And if they haven't gone, then rumours like this should be kept to yourself until they have actually left - it doesn't help anyone.... |

Are these people leaving actual Procar employees or the CAMS assigned technical officials?

TOURER, Just the facts man.
One employee is retiring and another senior employee is changing direction in his career outside of motorsport. The 1,500 strong team of employees ,teams ,officials and our own media production company is still here with myself at the helm. |

And by the way those 2 employees are staying around till December 2003.
For my part I am concentrating on our new arm PROCAR INTERNATIONAL SPORTS MEDIA ,which is looking after media sale, production and sponsor marketing. The core team at PROCAR are happy and doing just fine. |

GTR Magic ,I like the suggestion of the entry fees being paid before we finalize the list. Good luck with winning the special prize in the 10 marque tipping competition on our forum at www.bathurst24hr.com
Hey did you know you can also win a hot lap with Brock in the 427 monaro at Bathurst. It,s also on the website . |

from what I have heard recently from some very reliable sources is that this topic should be titled:
problems at AVESCO????? apparently there are some significant problems there. I wouldn't be at all worried about procar. |

Ross - I really wish you would give more thought to your new ventures - I mean, MIA and now PISM - I just hope you haven't had too many wines when you try and say PISM

I know of no other way to ask this, but since this is the person I believe it to be, rossp1, could give some thoughts on how the decision to not sell any production 7-litre Monaros affects the eligibility of the Monaro in Procar, given that the car does not, and will not, exist on the road?
Now that it is confirmed the project has been shelved, under what criteria does the Monaro qualify to be in the series? Is this really in the spirit of the series? Would not that then mean a Porsche GT2 Evo is than eligible also? I find it insulting that Procar has taken the view that the only way to make the series succesful in Australia is to appeal to the supposed boof-head mentality that thinks the only car in motorsport must be either a Holden or Ford. There are a number of examples where a series failed due to being lax regarding regulataions in order to favour certain manufacturer's entry into a series, the subsequent result being the ultimate demise of the series. (BPR 1996, FIA-GT 1997-1998) I'm sure Procar wouldn't mind if somebody enters a Lamborghini (owned by VW.) But VW also own Audi, so would that mean that someone can drop the Le Mans Audi R8 direct-injection engine into the back of a Diablo and enter it for Bathurst? How is that disimilar to what has been done to the Monaro? They don't sell Corvette C5-R's in Australia (nor in America for that matter) and the Monaro certainly is not sold with a 7litre engine or 6-speed sequential gearbox. The Monaro (in its 7 litre form) is the beginning of the end of the series in my view and you have certainly lost this hardened, passionate supporter of many kinds of motorsport. - but I guess you've gained many Holden supporters who will buy tickets, so what does Procar car about inegrity of its regulations. Bums on seats is all this car is, isn't? |

Ross has stated over and over again "Nations Cup IS NOT a production based class".
Procar have one production class, The Australian Production Car Championship. Maybe Procar's problem is that the rules for Nations Cup are not widley known and it causes this sort of response. Yes Nations Cup evolved from a Production car class, but it is not that now. |

Hopefully the GT will be able to get on terms, eventually. Its clearly a better road car, but it remains to be seen where or not that can be translated to results on the racetrack. |
