no big deal really but...
I'm not sure if you are aware, or care, but the site (messageboard) seems much slower recently.
Any ideas why? |

By recently do you mean today? this week? month? year?
I've tried a trace to your PC from the forum server and it does appear that there's a slight speed issue which is several hops down the line from us and therefore totally outwith our control. We've also moved the physical server recently (Thursday evening, 8pm GMT, so I guess that would be Friday morning for you) but so far haven't had any reports of degraded performance. |

i'd say it has been about a week. I visit pretty regular.
Seems to take about 10+ seconds to open each topic. Unlike the usual 2seconds |

Strange, it's been fine from this end. We've identified a possible DNS issue that we are in the process of addressing, so it may solve other speed related problems too.

still takes about 10seconds to open each topic.
I'm on a adsl d-slam (8MB) connection too so?? |

A traceroute shows you're 16 hops away from the server with about a 500ms ping compared to 21ms we get to the UK.
Ten-Tenths pages do contain a lot of graphics so that may also explain the slow loading time if you've not optimised your browser to make more then the default 2 connections to each site. Have you tried using the "Text Only" style, selectable from the drop-down menu at the bottom of the page? |

yeah, doesn't seem to explain why it was fine before.
I've been a member since Feb 2001 and i cant recall it ever being this slow. I guess us aussies will have to live with it, but its not much fun.
