Road supercars vs. race supercars

The McLaren F1 was a street car first, not a race car. It was originally not intended to be raced at all. The idea of racing it did enter into its design.

Super Cars and RACE cars are not the same. Some may look the same, but very different which I agree with you on.

The F1 yes, but the F1 LM was directly derived from the F1 GTR racecar.
