I've seen the mock-up and it looks really cool. Can't wait to snap up a couple

I will ask them as am interested to know if they will do more 6R4's. Gollop's was the first mould from the factory - lots of other brands do 6R4's really well, but once they make a mould it is easy enough to produce other cars.

However, other than the ComputerVision works car would any other cars sell really well? MSC produce Clarion and Senna ones. Not sure any of the rallycross ones would create enough demand apart from geeks like us!

Think there is a Mk7 Fiesta coming soon.......

See the mock up? So is there a rallycross enthusiast at scalextric now? As we have suddenly started getting cars, after a long break since the squibby escort.

"From the European Rallycross series in 1991 - a beast of the track!"

Hmmm, Hoppy drove just one 1991 ERC round.

Looking at that list David Francis is a name I can't remember??

And it says series not championship....but doesnt really matter as I'm just happy they are doing another Rallycross car....especially a Hoppy version

I rememebr Davy Francis - he later turned that into a RWD Escort and always flew when the British double-header occurred.

Guru - just enjoy some exposure for the sport. Doesn't always have to be 100% accurate and tough to take spoils away from the Hopkins.

Re enthusiast at Scalextric. Remember they are only just down the road from Lydden at Margate.

Looking at the results chart, only 2 drivers did all 11 rounds, and many well known names only did a couple of rounds. And I suppose the RS200 was an ERC regular, if not so much Hoppy's version.

Still it's really great to see scalextric do a 2nd rallycross RS200 and it gives his sponsors at the time, another bit of exposure.

Also I totally missed that Matti Alamaki had been out in an RS200 that year, so thanks for posting that link Guru.

Think I need to dig out my old programmes to see if that jogs my memory re David Francis.

Realise the Kent connection with Scalextric and Hoppy and Lydden and they did sponsor Barry Squibb for a bit, but wondered what prompted their interest in suddenly doing Rallycross cars again. Just hope it continues.

David Francis is a northern irish driver . . . He had that G3 escort for years with a cosworth turbo engine in it . . .He later built the running gear into a mark 5 shell for mostly hillclimbs and sprints but his son Mark does some rallycross in the escort still . . .

Hi All,

I am responsible for the Scalex rallycross cars at the start of this thread. I've made many more since......

Here's a few:

There are plenty more, including an Alamaki 205 and Delta S4, Schie 205, Arnesson Quattro, Welch Astra, etc.....

Love the Renny RS200, including the F1 style wing, how did you model that, if you don't mind me asking.

The base models, are the Reeves Sierra, Matti S4 and Per Subura, SCX?

And the 205 spirit?

rS200 scalextric?

But the Astra, can t think what model you could of based the Welch Astra on?

The Renny wing was bent and cut plasticard of various thicknesses, using filler and some careful sanding.

You are correct on all of the base models except the Reeves car, which is a good old Scalex base with a solid front axle and no magnet. Handles much sweeter and actually power-slides !!!!

As for the Astra, it's a small manufacturer called Octane. I think you can get them on Pendleslot. Only 200 built I think. Made in resin. OK shape, but axles are really narrow so I chopped the arches and widened them to get reasonable width.

Thanks, didn't notice the deeper front spoiler on the cosworth. the scalextric version always had a tendency to go straight on at corners with the magnet.

Is that a Sterkens Mondeo, next to the Eklund car?

Which Arnesson Quattro did you do? Was it the long wheel base? Scalextric, SCX or team slot, or the short winged version that revell once made?

Any plans for doing your own rallycross version of a 6R4?

Yup, that's the Sterkens car. Took ages to find the pictures to make those decals !!!

The Arnesson car was based on the SWB Revell car:

As for the 6R4, I've made 2. The first is based on the MSC car:

and a heavilly modified Scalex Metro (every panel except the roof was modified):

How about this for retro?

Can you tell me where I can get the decals? I had planned to make the Alamaki's S4 and 205 and make the decals myself.

Those 6R4 's look great, how difficult was it removing the air intakes from the doors to convert them from rally to rallycross trim

Hi Stephen,

The MSC car has removeable door intakes, so wasn't difficult at all.

The Gibson car was pretty much scratch built, and ended up taking ages to build. Shortly after I finished, MSC brought out the 6R4 !!!!!!!!

So is the Gibson car based on the original scalextric 6R4, based on the prototype without the aero packages, anyway looks amazing.

Will have to check out the MSC version. Thanks
