Sato to race in Monaco Historic Grand Prix .....
In an ex-Graham Hill Lotus 49 (Hope they have enough insurance cover !!!!!)
"It's very exciting for me," he said. "Obviously I'm happy to get the opportunity to drive the circuit and am very grateful to the sponsor for this. It will be the first time there for me and it will be good practice before the Grand Prix." Let's face it, He will probably still be faster than Alex Yoong will be in the actual Grand Prix, even in a car nearly 35 years old !!!! |

I must admit here , that even i am a little worried about this one . I read about it last week in Autosport and i thought then that i hope he doesnt give the LOTUS 49 a dent or two .
You see , the thing i like about Taku is his maximum attack attitude , put him in a robin reliant and he would drive it to the limit . He is a real racer and wants to race everyone and everything , so if i owned a LOTUS 49 , i dont think i would ask him to race it around Monaco !! , i would probally ask someone like Frentzen or Truli who wouldnt drive it to its death , just to achieve a race win . lol |

I am sure he knows better. If he does crash I dont think it will be by any fault of his. This is not for points. He has not reason to take risks.

For any brits who know the Fast Show:
Me? The Honda wildcard? In a priceless car at Monaco? With MY reputation? What were they thinking of? |

This is great, I reckon
I always love seeing current F1 drivers dabbling in other forms of racing - remember the days when half the F1 grid would suit up for Le Mans and Indy? Well, those days are gone now, thanks to clinical faceless drivers the PR departments impose on us, but thankfully we occasionally get things like this, Schu's kart race in 2001, or Jean Alesi's rallying a few years ago. |

I'd love this if it were almost any other driver!
Hopefully he won't take out any other cars when he demolishes that Lotus. |

Well, there goes the car. Even if there isent any other car on the road - Sato will probably find a way to hit the barrier.

Yeah, maybe RS should be the one doing this. We know for a fact that he would be "nursing" it around the track and "preserving his tires".

JPM and Jacques would get along great with that car, it was made for drifting.
Hopefully the parts will go to restore another Lotus 49, 'cause this one ain't gonna be worth saving after Takuma spears straight on at Mirabeau. Only Alex Yoong is less deserving, among the current F1 crop. |

Dont get me wrong here . I think Sato will love the car , and i wouldnt be surprised if he wins the race !
what i meant was , that its a priceless LOTUS 49 of Graham Hill , and if i owned it , i would rather put a slow more conservative driver in it , rather than a pure racer who goes balls out every time he sits in a race car . I bet Taku will have a great time , its just im not sure the car ownwer will. |

He's got a £4000 excess and no legal expenses on his policy! he may not bin this car but his race car will be a magnet to those barriers......
Its ironic that Sato was brought in to safeguard the Honda deal and now may be the person who tears it apart due to his poor results. Regards Guy |

He'll go through Ste. Devote sideways and tank-slap it into the wall. Just you watch!!
Which is why I like Sato!! |

He needs a prayer more than practice. The sponsors must be paying a huge sum to let a chump like Sato behind the wheel of a car like that. If he lasts half a lap without breaking anything, we should all be clapping

well i shalt be attending monaco for the historic gp nxt wkend! in a very selfish way, kinda hoping that taka does do something fairly dramatic! i don't imagine there will be much wheel to wheel racing - seeing that the cars involved r all precious collectors items belonging to all those rich folk!
should imagine that daddy won;t be best pleased if his piece of history gets scratched, let alone hurled into a barrier at 100mph - but as u say theres always taka! |
