Lowndes test with 888
Craig tested with 888 today at QLD raceway in Wilsons car and they had a few engine dramas so they changed engines. Both cars were doing 1.11 - 12's thoughout the day. Watch sports tonight as Greg Rust was out there interviewing Roland Dane and Craig Lowndes.

Craig is used to crook engines....
Maybe that new bloke 888 keep advertising to find can work wonders.... the guy looking after Speedy's engines, and on occassion contracting to WPS seems keen to get into a real gig... hows about him |

I'm not saying he didn't mind the engine troubles, but the reason he left was because of bad organization (i.e, Not having a full engine to replace the lunched one...)

according to Mel ( Lowndes2b1 on V8 Central ) who was at the test, when Craig was asked about the engine drama 888 were having, Craig said they were just trying to make him feel at home - ouch !

Word is that the 888 have been sold a pup with a heap of dud push rods from a local supplier. Get these fixed and the dramas from Bathurst and Gold Coast would be no more

..err..Didn't the Rat retire from Bathurst with front-end troubles?...or did a 'dud' push rod fly out of the motor & break a stub axle?

Along the lines of, "The car failed due to an electrical fault, The broken conrod knocked the distributor cap off"

Nah, I believe that they had dramas earlier in the week, not during the race.

Mrs Lowndes would have been happy that Craig was home for the evening meal.

As for the test day, he'd done a few laps earlier on in the day and found a problem with the engine. Apparently after they had pulled it apart found that it was something to do with a dirty oil filter/line. They thought rather then damage it, replace it with another. Hey I believe them Craig had said earlier that it was a day for him to get to know the guy he will be working for in 2005, he got a few hours to do that and to give Max's new car a run down. Dean Canto was also out there with Howard Racing, giving one of 888's old BA's a good going over. Hopefully this will end up leading to a drive in the V8 Development Series in 2005. |

888 -Nice front uprights on the car at Bathurst, you get a great view on the TV of the car coming into pitlane minus the sub axle & wheel !!!!
"Made in the UK" stamped on the side of them Look a bit like 2Lt or F1 type these Ozzie cars weight in a wee bit more it seems Retreat I say, and we will build a bigger gun next time;p |

Well I for one do sincerely hope that Craig Lowndes does vey well next year for himself, Ford and 888. It IS strange to not see him figure in the results much apart from two outstanding 2nd placings at Bathurst. Brilliant!!
Sometimes, you wonder if he had retired. |

Is there any truth to the rumor that the car was parked in the turn 1 gravel trap at one stage during the day

I also noticed in the photo's that the car doesn't have a number on it, does anyone know if it is an officially logbooked V8SC, and if not, have they found a possible way around the testing restrictions, as they relate to the car number only.

Gee, the conspiricy theorys are out fairly quick on this topic, usually we at least get to page 3
maybe they are selling the car, and it was a shake down run for he new owners, as Lownes is taking a share in 888 and so is buying his own car to oversea it's preperation after to many mechanical or performance problems at the 2 teams he ahs last driven with. Now que the Twigh light zone music and we are off and away |
