What's next for the Tourist Trophy?

The Tourist Trophy has been an event for many different types of cars; Touring cars, Sports Cars & most recently GT's and the FIA GT Championship. But with that probably not visiting the UK and almost certainly not visiting Silverstone, what's next?

A venue shift, prehaps a round of the Blancpain Series?

It would be a shame to have a hiatus for such a prestigous event (I know it's happend before, but still.)

Maybe they could make it the Marque-Event of British GT... who knows, might even get some extra starters for that.

Hmm... Yeah I hope it would either be a Brit GT round with odd extra entrant, or maybe just an open entry GT race.

I'm almost certain it'll be the Blancpain round - I think it's SRO choice though so it's either British GT or Blancpain, but I expect it to be the latter

Blancpain should be about right, as it should be a long distance race. It started as a 500 miler at Ards?

To quote from my own interview with Ratel at San Luis last year:

Quote:
That SRO will opt for smaller circuits to race on with the FIA GT World Championship leaves a question mark for the future of the Tourist Trophy in its current form. Silverstone doesn't really fit into the definition given by Ratel, so where does it leave the event? "The Tourist Trophy will be there, in one of our series", said Ratel with a smile.

S'funny, but I thought the RAC owned that name and trophy, not the Rat?
Surely they can offer it to whichever race the RACMSA deem suitable.

In that case the WEC is still a candidate.
