Happy for Scott, but like SvG said, pretty average by Supercars. Never gave him a chance, and spoiled what could have been a great spectical today, and knocks a little gloss off the Championship win.

Another great race from Reynolds / Erebus. Getting more consistent, going to be a serious chance next year.

Is that fair? I don't see how yesterdays penalty affected todays race. Scott just had to beat SVG no matter what and he did.

Rubbish!

If you want to blame someone. Blame the refueller and air spike man from 888. Was poor form on SVG's part to blame the officials post race today.

No penalty means SVG would have lost by 20 points. Probably 34, because Scotty might not have rolled over for Reynolds.

SVG never had the pace to run with Scotty today.

Notice that today when Team 18 let a wheel roll out into the fast lane during a pitstop and someone had to run out and retrieve it, the team got a penalty ( $ fine and loss of some team championship points ), not the car / driver. But yesterday when the 888 team screwed up, the car / driver got the penalty. How does that work? Both are safety issues, and neither car / driver gained an advantage. Serious question.

Just seen Roland being interviewed by Greg Murphy. He nailed it regarding everything. True professional.

Blaming the penalty on a demotivated driver and team today stunk of sour grapes.
They won last year with an 80ish point deficit. This year was 53.

Agree completely. You never give up the fight until it is over. Scotty learnt from the mistakes of last year and held it together and he is a worthy champion. I never had any doubts about him winning it at some stage.

Best moment was when he was on Facebook live and gave a shout out to his mentor Dale and his kart shop. (After some gentle reminding from a mutual friend and lurker of this forum)

********. SVG just didn't have the speed on Sunday. Nothing that happened Saturday impacted on that.

The cynic in me feels that another contrived outcome happened yesterday - yes I am a Ford fanatic, but I reckon that the penalty on SVG was to give the Ford Falcon a rousing send-off - another contrived result! Maybe?

If it was any other sport they'd get done for match fixing.

I think somewhat the opposite despite barracking for 888. I think it took the heat out of Sunday's race, but it didn't affect the result one jot.

Scott is a young man and wilted under the pressure last year. This year he grew taller and won on his own, without a tail gunner or anything else.

That's not true. You try and turn up energised and rareing to go 100% the next day after you've just been on the short end of the stick. It had a big effect on the team and on Shane, and anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves. I've never heard Shane say anything negative in interviews about anything no matter what had happened, but one Sunday he did it multiple times, having a go directly at Supercars. That's how much it irked him and the team.

Being on the wrong end of a seemingly open and shut case didn't extinguish the fire in the belly for the garage next door in New Zealand.

Sorry that is just a sooky excuse, the punishment was valid for the infraction and you just have to get on with the job.
