The season ending Winston Cup race at Loudon in late November

"And Jeff Gordon spins on some ice coming onto pit road and crashes heavily. His day is done! Ricky Rudd is your new Winston Cup champion!"

Really curious why they don't switch this date with a track that has more suitable weather for that time of the year. I understand the high temp was a blistering 20 degrees F on 23 Nov in New Hampshire last year!

It really seems to me that they didn't give much thought to this at all. It was such a last minute decision!

I don't think the race will be held as they have snow about that time of the year.

I have heard rumblings that Bruton Smith is trying to acquire the rights to hold this race from the Bahre family. This would make sense as the weather would be warmer in the Dallas/Fort Worth area than in New Hampshire. If this can't be worked out, NASCAR should just cancel the race. Either way, they need to make a firm decision in the next two weeks.

The last I heard was that Bahre had declined the offer, but Smith was quoted as saying that the offer is still on the table.

As crazy as it might seem, I can't see Nascar making another change for this race. Unless it is actually snowing (or raining) they will do whatever it takes to run the race. I'm trying to picture what it would be like to see a Nascar race with snow in the infield! Wouldn't it be a shock to the system for those guys from Charlotte! I can't help but wonder, though, how often the guys who run in the Busch North series run into this situation. Anyone know? Maybe their season is shorter and they never see snow on a race weekend.
