Jon Heynes / Richard West

I know I run the risk of being barrcked for posting about York City FC again, but thought this is of some iterest to you lot and I would like some information if anyone can help

Jon Heynes backs Batchelors bid to take over YorkCity FC

The above link states that a Jon Haynes (senior I think) is bankrolling John Batchelor's attempted takeover of YCFC. Also present at the meeting was Richard West, apparantly someone involved in the BTCC.

Could anyone give me any further information on any of these two characters and any possible reason as to why they would want to be involved with a football club??

Sorry if this is slightly off topic but I just wanted to try and find out some more information and thought this the best place to come.

I cannot imagine why Richard West would want to be involved with a football club, especially one that is virtually bankrupt. Wonder if this has anything to do with TOCA website being down for so long?
(I think HTML are only involved in ASCAR racing)

Im Confused. I thought Batchelor was selling the club?

Once again not to discuss here and can I stress the TOCA website is not down for anything to do with this, just a server change.

No the news is not ten months old - its todays news.

What we want to know is who are these guys that are on board with Batchelor, what are their motives and why the hell did they not come on board with Batchelor the first time before the club went into administration?

Spot the non touring Car fan Richard West is BTCC series director, you couldn't get much more 'involved' than that. Prior to that he was involved with a number of F1 team, particular Williams, Arrows and Ferrari on the sponsorship and marketing side.

Jon Haynes owns HTML how have raced in National Saloons, BTCC and last year ASCAR. As I recall he had some connections to the short-oval stock car stadium in Northamption (but I'm not 100% certain on that).

I'm beginning to think John's got more teeth than brain cells! After the way the club's fans have rounded on him for whatever reason - now he wants to be the chairman again?

As to what Jon Heynes/Richard West want to do with it - is there oil hidden under the stadium? Or a gold seam perhaps?

I know - I said that much to him at Blackpool - why I said do you do it? But he won't walk away.... even though (to me) they deserve it.

This is all very interesting, with some possible clues to the coming seasons race team. I think Richard West may have been a personal investor when JB took on York City, effectivley making him a director of the club!?

Kelvin

PS. I hope between them they pull it off, and that JB proves to be the hero and not the villain the fans now seem to think he is.
