Chase

The Vision
I wanted to create a modern circuit - which, felt enriched with the charm, passion and unwavouring dignity typified by the classic - British, circuits such as Brands Hatch, Donington to name but a few.

Hence, whilst doodling away on a piece of scrap paper - my pondering thoughts turned into something unique, something - I originally compared a likeness to Castle Coombe.

After some chopping and changing, I came up with - what became Chase. A simple name, but one which encapsulates the very spirit of racing itself. I now present to you, Chase;

---

Points of Note
  • Orientation - Clockwise
  • Length - 3.2 miles
  • Number of Turns - 11
  • Est. Lap time - 1m 21s
  • Total Grandstand Capacity - 120,000
  • State of the art Medical facilities for personnel, competitors and fans alike.

Design Features

Grandstand "G3" rotates, albeit quite slowly, throughout the course of an event. It allows the spectator to emcompass, and view all elements of racing, that the section at the top of the circuit, will provide.

The VIP tower is a state of the art facility - and gives great views of the entire circuit.

Bowser's Bridge, is a state of the art - miniscule suspension bridge - and there is a clearance of around 20 metres from the roof of the bridge, to the circuit that runs below it.

Corner Names

All the corner names on the circuit, aim to depict English country genius. The names are evocative, and in thier own way - representative of a spectators imagination, in terms of how they came to be.

However, Bowser's Bridge - is named after a special person

Comments?

Thanks guys, I hope you like Chase. I would dearly love some feedback on it. I.e - any ideas for extensions, extra safety features (i.e. installation of chicanes).

And any other general comments

I like it. Just one thing, to increase overtaking on the track is it worth tightening up the corner before Breaker to give a second really good overtaking spot cause the only one i see at the moment is cramper. Heres how it could look

Great track Martin! you've got the colours right! its just how I like my tracks - Lots of elevation with walls close to the track.

Oh i'm liking that alot, really cool! Yeah close walls really make the circuit claustrophobic and with elevation makes it even more exhilarating. Simple layout too, but it works nicely!
The roatating grandstand is cool, too, very different!

Thanks mate. Although I do like what you've done with it, I feel that the existing chicane, would provide an opportunity. Saying that though, I'd be quite content with your revisions as well

Thanks mate; yeah - I was really pleased with the presentational side of things.

Thanks mate. I love doodling away, and across the masses of scrap paper around mate, there are some pretty cool tracks. I liked this one quite a bit, but it originally looked just a little bit different.

The rotating grandstand was a little idea I had, just thought it would be unique.

Thanks Guys;

Regards

Yeah i have so much paper with doodles of layouts, it's nice to know there are other people around that do it, as my mates are like "are you still doing that?" lol

haha yeah. It's usually when the teacher is rabbiting away about "general trends of economic change and transition". I just doodle, and I get a nudge - "Oh Effin Ell Paul, Not another track"

A very nice track, Paul. Great. That rotating grandstand is a very cool, innovative idea. You should patent that!

Have seen that rotating grandstand idea several years ago....in the BBC F1 magazine which I think that they no longer do. It was part of a fantasy track around the streets of London with the grandstand being at Hyde Park Corner.

Wouldn't you be annoyed if you were in the rotating grandstand and you missed something good because you were facing the wrong way though?
