Reckon he should've got an ART ride, definite title material in my book.

So jackman who's your money on for this 'final change?'
Take a look at the sponsors on Maldonado's car, consider where they were last year, think about who might have control of such things and you've found the reason for Viso dropping off the radar. His Dad owns a large company in Venezuela, but I can't really see him stumping up the full cost of a season, although stranger things have happened.

Mind you, it's BCN we're talking about here. At least they're not going in with their eyes closed.

Oh, and there's a certain Chinese driver who may be in the frame too.

I guess there's only so much money around and it won't stretch to 2 guys in the same series?

Ah yes the Chinese driver, mentioned as a possiblity elsewhere on the forum I believe.

would he really be a good choice? By that I mean for the team, not the series!

I think there's enough money in Venezuela for 2 drivers, but perhaps not the political will.

I'd like to see our Chinese friend have a test, just to see what he can do. Except we're out of test days and the first race weekend is just two weeks away.

Pah - where does the time go?

Uh huh, shame because they're both better than a lot of guys out there wouldn't you say?

With this in mind, I wonder how young Cecotto will fare if he progresses much higher?

So it's definitely him they're thinking of then?

Telling me! I can't believe we're so close to the new season!! Wonder if Eurosport's still going to be showing the races? Second thoughts i'd better not go there, this is still a fairly positive thread...

Alex K has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Although AFAIK Maldonado's backers were mostly the same as Viso's sponsors. Still FR3.5 is cheapper than GP2.

But one of their main sponsors, Cantv, is to be nationalized by Venezuelan government, and Cantv decals disappeared from Maldonado's car on GP2 preseason testings...

OK, didn't know
BTW. According to Scalabroni chances to see Lopez in BCN are slim, not to say none.

1. I think Viso's shown what he's got: the jury's still out on Maldonado, particularly given his history of brainfade on the track.

2. Depends who he knows, politically.

3. Yes.

4. They are. Sorry...

Just to add to the BCN conspiracy theories, it seems the winner of German and Italian F3 this year gets a GP2 test with the team.

Could this possibly be a tie in with the German championship to perhaps get Ho-Pin Tung into a GP2 drive - would act as a bit of promotion for the series...

Maldanado has shown a hell of a lot more speed, not to mention wins, than Viso has.

Right, so that's the lot then heh?

Time to move all ongoing discussion to the pre-season thread.

Agreed?
