50-SIX should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
There was no other potential BFF runners there, just the KMR 2. A renault was out though and had a nasty one in to the pitlane barrier from what I hear.

Malvern definately out of the running for the Jamun drive and probably any other Duratec seat as he doesn't have the budget which is a real shame as he is clearly very talented. I hear he has been over in Northern Ireland this week testing at Kirksitown for Cliff Dempsey Racing in Josef Newgardens Festival (Kent) winning Ray and was mighty impressive so I'm sure he would be a major contender for FF1600 honours if he ends up there.

I also hear that Cliff Dempsey is planning to enter the British FF championship with a pair of brand new Ray chassis but has no drivers in the frame as of yet.

Great news if Cliff Dempsey does enter the British Championship, the more cars on the grid the better!

Yes I second that. The more cars on the grid, the better and there are quite a few new teams lining up for 09 such as Hillspeed/Juno, DW racing, Ray etc plus some former ones returning like GWR. Hope they all stay the course unlike Comtec this year. Still think Jamun are going to be very difficult to beat though.

But some interesting new drivers in the championship like Nigel Moore (Fluid?). I hear Scott Malvern likely to continue as a mechanic at Jamun while racing himself in national FF1600? Not sure what he'll do if there is a clash of dates though although I'm now told by a reliable source he's still in the frame for a Juno drive.

Anyone have the latest dates for 09 yet? Provisional of course. 9 or 10 meetings?

I do have provisional dates available by request, not sure if they've been made public yet.

2009 Dates

Racing Line did have provisional dates as far back as the Festival but as we know from experience these things can be subject to change almost up to the last minute. Makes it difficult to plan anything. F3 dates were published a few weeks ago and of course at many rounds FF will support them.

Maybe Martin will be the saviour of UK FF and is building a Mygale beater

With the change in ownership at VD It looks like a single chassis formula is not far away.

You probably know more than me - but I saw it as a positive that Fluid bought them??? surely they would struggle to do a worse job with Fford than has been done in recent years? Why do you see it as a downward spiral?

Don't worry about Getem, there are still plenty of drivers in the pool that haven't put pen to paper yet. The Getem will be out at select rounds this year, with Jason Down at the wheel as always.
Our testing will commence 20/21 Jan.

When you say a single chassis formulae, what do you mean. All Mygale, or all Van Diemen as they have new owners? I don't think this will be the case in any means; Ray still has a strong following, Juno are looking good in testing, Spectrum have been strong at times, and I believe KMR will be running four cars next season.
And who knows if the Getem is a Mygale beater maybe we'll see more of them! :P Well, any car can beat Daniel Walker (Slidesports Mygale)!!!!!

Assume this is an all new Getem as Jason told me the old one was written off?

"When you say a single chassis formulae, what do you mean."

I just feel that the Mygale chassis is the one to have. This is based on the fact that two people who know the ins and outs of FF design (Martin Downs and Tony Mundy) run Mygales. With a very small market place and in a time when money is tight I find it unlikely that anyone will do better than what is on offer from Mygale. Sooooo if you were to go UK FF in 2009 I would suggest that the only chassis worth having is a .............................

Ray!

The amount of new entries with Rays is quite unbelievable. Joking aside, I agree that the Mygale is definately the car to have, I hear this all the time from drivers. Everyone seems to think the Aquila is an amazing machine, and I can appreciate the engineering that has gone into its construction, but drivers have told me that the Mygale feels much better. Saying that, a few drivers have also told me they don't like the feel of the Mygale, all down to personal preference I guess. Bertrand has certainly done a good job with his formula ford, lets hope we see a strong F3 chassis in 09.

Without naming names someone who should know told me there is little between the Ray and Mygale. The Ray being quicker in the wet and the Mygale not being so hard on the rear tyres in the dry so may have a slight edge at the end of a race, in qualifying and early in the race there is nothing in it. Chrissy Palmer certainly did a good job as a privateer in a Ray.

The confirmed 2009 calendar has been released today:

11-13 Apr, Oulton Park
25/26 Apr, Donington Park
30/31 May, Rockingham
13/14 June, Knockhill
4/5 Jul, Snetterton
15/16 Aug, Silverstone
4/5/6 Sep, Brands Hatch Indy (DTM)
19/20 Sep, Brands Hatch GP
3 October, Castle Combe

Comments anyone? I'm slightly annoyed at the loss of Spa, which was a big selling point for us. Saying that, I'll end up going to the F3 meet there anyway! Castle Combe is a welcome return in my opinion, being a part of the prestigious Carnival, should be a great atmosphere. Supporting the DTM should be a laugh too. Being on the indy circuit will give us plenty of data for the festival!!

Totally disagree. The Mygale is the strongest chassis out there at the moment.

Was quoting Del Boy obviously but I stand by what I wrote. Most successful last year as no team ran a quick driver in a Ray but Chrissy Palmer was quickest privateer especially quick at the festival. Hope yes see a quick guy in a GRS09.

Yeah I know you were quoting Del Boy.

I too hope to see quick drivers in a range of different chassis next year because it makes the championship more interesting but there is no question as to which is the quickest at the moment - Mygale.
