Automodelli
http://www.automodelli.com/
Here is the link to my friend Bob Davault's Automodelli model building company. I have a few models that Bob has built, but I have to keep them in their own showcase because they are so good they make my work look bad. Bob does all of my clearcoat work and some of the tougher projects I am too chicken to tackle. Check out the site and I think you guys will see he is one of the few remaining masters. |

This is one of the models Bob built for me. It is jkust such a clean build. The cleanest I have ever seen, really.
I love all that cockpit detail. |

Doctor, do you ever model cars post-race, eg with accident damage, dirt, tank-tape etc?

Generally, no. But this one was just too unique to pass up. This car is from Sebring 1971, Rodrigeuz and donohue crashed into each other and this was the resuly. The bodies on the old Porsches were bonded to the frame and the nose was no removable, so they just cut away the broken bodywork, taped her up and sent her back out. The rules called for two headlights, so the pop riveted one one the front.
The funny part is that they still finished, I believe, fourth. Last edited by Dr. Austin; 23 Mar 2002 at 14:44. |
