Entry list for round 6 at Croft online:

http://www.rallycrossbrx.com/news/en...croft-revealed

10 Supercars
12 Super National/Super 1600
10 Swifts
12 Swift Juniors
12 BMW MINIs
10 Retros

Fairly respectable numbers in all the classes; strong entry for the MINIs again and the strongest Junior Swift numbers to date? No buggies though, have they scrubbed them for this round, or for the whole year?

Yep - looks like quite a decent entry. Some interesting names on there too - Liam Manning in the Impreza (Mike building a new car?) and Mike Dresser as well.

I'm sure I read earlier in the year that the Impreza was always destined for Liam, but Mike ran the car for a few events just to shake it down?

Does Mike still have the Puma?

Mike was sprinting / hillclimbing in the Puma a while back - don't know if he's still got it now though. I'm sure it was mentioned at Lydden that he was building a new car?

Yeah, I wondered if the Puma was being stripped and the running gear was going in something new, or if the Puma was being kept intact.

I am going but only because I have a season ticket... I will take the Sunday Times to read during the Swift (which are anything but.. ) and Mini races .

How are the mighty fallen- when I think back to the quality of quantity of RX entries in the past....

Victory for Godfrey in the Supercars yesterday moves him back to the top of the standings again, but only by a narrow margin. Supercar entries have been a bit patchy this year, but at least there is a close fight between Godfrey, O'Donovan and Higgins.

Hope Higgins does well in the last three rounds.

Well that was another very wet, windy and at times cold day at Croft for the Rx. Great driving by Godfrey in the Final, once he was in the lead he never looked like losing it. It was amazing to see the small S1600 cars take the fight to and win against the SuperNational class, the weather really levelled the playing field.

Anyway, here my vid from the days action if anyone interested:

Yep: will be watching that later!

Agreed with regards to the S1600/Super National mix. I thought it was a good move when they starting mixing classes on track, but putting the S1600 out with the Super Nationals seems a much better pairing than the Hot Hatch/BMW MINI mix.

I was hoping John Cross would be out in his new toy rather than the SEAT Leon - but other than that the entry looks ok doesn't it? Interesting to see Dave Ward out in a MINI (I'm assuming it's 'the' Dave Ward).

Having read through the last couple of thread pages and people saying the entry is "alright" for various rounds I think the entries are bloody terrible! Compared to even 5-10 years ago it's about half.

It's 'alright' in the current climate - but yes it's down on a few years ago, supermodified in particular is lacking, it used to be such a diverse class but it's thin on the ground now.

Yeah, that's how I see it as well. The only consolation is that, although the numbers haven't been great this year, at least we are getting some close racing in some of the classes.

Tom Onslow-Cole, Dan Rooke and Andrew Coley all entered in the RX150's on Monday:

https://mailchi.mp/185d8e4d1a6f/onsl...l?e=5cc8a32c73

At least they have a full grid of buggies now.

Good day at Lydden - O'Donovan won Supercar in the Fiesta (he was supposed to be using the Focus but broke it fuelling up before practice so switched cars - oh to have a 'spare' supercar ). Good racing in the supercars all day - Higgins, O'Donovan, Godfrey and Proctor all absolutely flying all day. Hill had a good run too which was good to see - how often does the Evo get to the end of the day having run trouble free all day? Interesting to hear that several of the drivers had tested Godfrey's Mirage on Saturday - and that O'Donovan preferred it to his Fiesta. More Mirages to come?

Supermodified and S1600 were lumped together and produced some good racing - Ovenden was in a class of his own though at the front. The races did seem to split with the top Supermodifieds being comfortably clear of the S1600s and the S1600s being clear of the less modified Supermodifieds. Quite a bit of contact between Thorne and Clark throughout the day - is that normal or were they just tripping over each other as they were so close on pace?

MINIs, Swifts and Juniors all had enough entries to generate some good racing too - but what was going on with the buggies? Guest entries to fill out a sparse grid is fine (and they were all in the mix) but the reliability was awful - normally they're pretty much bulletproof but they seemed to be grinding to a halt with alarming regularity this weekend.

Retros - love it 6R4 vs RS200? Yes please! The others put on a good show too - and it's easily the best smelling class

Ha, I'd be quite content with one Supercar, let alone a fleet! Ollie won on the circuit, but was subsequently given a two second penalty, which gave the win to Higgins. I was by the chicane for the final so I didn't see the move which resulted in the penalty. Shame for Ollie, but it means the Championship is still very tight.

Nice to see Procter have a trouble free day. I think he should be a multiple event winner at this point, but he still seems to be chasing gremlins in the Fiesta.

I hadn't heard about the Mirage testing. Definitely interesting to learn that other drivers were keen on the car. I still prefer the look of the Fiesta, but another Mirage (or two) would be good for the mix.

I have previously skipped the Junior Swift races to get in the queue for the burger van, but I thought they were great yesterday. Some really close racing.

The BMW MINI class is much improved as well, most of their races finished with all the cars in close proximity to each other. I was told yesterday that they are expecting increased entries next year as well.

Agreed with regards to the buggies. I think it was heat two when five of the seven entries had issues? As you say they have always looked pretty reliable in the past, what has changed? There were at least a couple of good scraps in the RX150 field, but only ever one person in contention for the win.

The RS200 was (rather predictably) my fave car of the Retro class, but there was a good showing from the rest of them. I was wincing when Harris lost control at North Bend and parked in the tyre wall! It was surprising how quickly the car snapped away from him and pointed itself at the barrier.

Amazed how much grunt the Harold Beetle has off the line. I don't think the current Roger Thomas 6R4 is "full fat" but, even so, it was impressive to see a 2WD car consistently beating the 4WD Metro off the line.

Nice

You fared much better than me - I didn't get many shots I was happy with all day, if anything I seem to have got worse at this photography lark this year

Seeing those has reminded me - what was up with Jobb's Escort? Is it running a lower spec engine in there these days? It seemed to be very much off the pace which is a shame as it's a great car.

That's a good question. It was certainly making plenty of noise, but didn't seem to be that quick.

BARC.net, is reporting that the final round of the British Championship has moved from Saturday the 3rd to Sunday the 4th. I did wonder if the Saturday date was leaving the possibility open for a Grand Prix Event on the Sunday, as has been traditional at Croft, when it was the season closer. But I guess that means no Rallycross Grand Prix in 2018? The article says, the change in date was "Due to a change in the use of facilities at the Northamptonshire-based venue meaning the services necessary to run the event on the Saturday were no longer available"
