noaxetogrind should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
2007 Australian Sports & GT Championship

The first round is now less than 4 weeks away on the weekend the A1GP is at Eastern Creek and I am looking forward to the start of this year's series, especially as there was word late last year that some new cars would be running in 2007.

Anyone seen an entry list for the first round or have any news on whether any new cars will be at the first round?

Much talk has been around in regards to TLA return, Coopers Racing return, John Bowe, Washington new car but nothing official as yet that I have heard.

I've heard third or fourth hand that the Crick Viper has been sold but I have not heard who to or whether it will be in the GT series. I know there was talk of Crick buying a new Viper at some stage but thought I had heard those plans had been temporarily shelved. Hope he turns up in something.

With the first round only 3 and a half weeks away, I was hoping someone would have seen an entry list but there's nothing on the GT website.

If it is only 3 or so weeks away i don't think John Teulan will be there. Unless the Daytona trip is not on. There are still overheating problems to be solved although a remedy is supposed to be close.

I said hello to John today but didn't have time to talk to him. Will ask him tomorrow for sure.

Daytona is Jan 27-28 where as Round 1 at Eastern Creek is Feb 3-4. So if he was keen he could still run. Might see a one off return of the 360 Challenge for the round.

The 360 is sitting in workshop unprepared and i have seen no evidence of it being started either.

Have you run into John yet today, Pete in regards to the Daytona tilt?

I thought one of the main reasons for the 430 was that he could race it around the world.

The Daytona plans have been cancelled and John will run the first 3 rounds of the championship at this stage, then he may race at The Ring.

That is disappointing but then I would swap a run at the Nurburgring 24 hr over Daytona. Hopefully the same names mentioned alongside Teulan for Daytona will be in contention for Nurburgring

Rusty has bought a 430 which is already up for sale. Last time he raced was in the Diablo at the start of last year. would be good to see some more vipers ect out on track

This is the same Rust French that won Bathurst with Tricky, right?

If so, he'd be getting on in age! (good on him for still racing, though!)

No, that was John French. Rusty is not that young either. Would have to be in his 60's i would say and lucky to be alive at all after a light aircraft accident quite a few years ago.

He's apparently got both old Vipers being rebuilt but that's been going on for 2-3 years now. He also has a Competition Coupe but it would need a lot of work as it's straight from the factory.

What happened to that 430? Did he ever run it anywhere?

Does Rusty still own the Pantera he raced in the 70s?

Could park it next to the 3 x 935 Porsches .....

I thought the information given to me was that Rusty had bought two new Vipers and at that stage they were not in the country.

Possibly. I'm only going off what was sighted second hand in his workshop and toy shed.
