2003 miles of Spa

Here's something a little different.

Some of you may remember the Spa 24hr which used to be a Touring Car race but recently changed to a GT event. Well this year Spa are running a long distance event for Touring Cars, not 24hrs but 2003 miles. (2003 miles takes roughly 22 hrs but there is a 24 hr limit)

The race will be open to cars in pretty much any recognised European category - SuperTouring, SuperProduction, Group N, Super 2000, French Silhouette. Sounds very similar to the Nurburgring 24hrs.

Takes place over the weekend on 26-28 Sept.

Sounds good, I wonder what the chances would be of having ETCC/BTCC/DTM/STCC and maybe Aussie V8's enter the race? Unlikely I know, but perhaps a few of them? Would be great.

Was just thinking, in the Spa 24hrs GT race there is a class for cars with engines up to 2.0ltr capacity, no turbos or superchargers allowed, but they dont run with restrictors, Im suprised no teams from the BTCC or ETCC dont run in this class. Im sure they woudnt do that badly, the ETCC machines are actually faster than the slowest NGT cars anyway.

Ah well I can dream..

Sounds great to me. I always liked the long races. Now to get my licence sorted...

If they get good teams entering it would be worth going to perhaps...

Wonder how many teams will enter tho. I doubt many of the privateer teams will enter cause of funding, we'll have to see how many works teams decide to compete.

It actually would be a great outing for a privateer as you could split the costs three or four ways and still get a good bit of seat time. And a small Group N car doesn't cost that much to run, easy on the petrol and tyres etc.
