Oulton Park British GT

Any new on an entry list for Outlon Park on Easter Monday?

Can we expect an LNT Panoz, Barwell (think thats right) Aston Martin DBRS9.

What are the support races?

With some good weather (fingers crossed) this could be a fantastic day out.

According to the timetable there is a British GT race on Saturday afternoon, yet according to all the promotional adverts etc I have seen they say they championship kicks off on Monday 17th April.

Is there definately a race on Saturday. If so I might go along then as opposed to Easter Monday.

Regards

Tim

Just pulled this off the British GT website which confirms what I already thought

The opening race of the season takes place on Saturday 15th April at 16:35, with second on Easter Monday scheduled for 13:45. A packed racing schedule at Oulton Park features the opening rounds of the British F3 series. Support races by the Volkwagen Racing Cup, Ginetta, Caterham Superlights, UK Formula Ford, Formula Palmer Audi and Heritage Touring Cars.

Both days should be worth going to

They didn't - they were originally going to be there, many moons ago, but they actually start at Spa next month.

How many Sunday a year does Oulton get? I know the Gold Cup meeting runs over the Sunday but what else does. I have to say it seems a bit f..messed up that a championship like the British GT can't play on the Sunday...they definitely raced on the Sunday 2004

You have to remember this is Easter Sunday so may be subject to more restrictions than other Sundays. But generally on Sundays the action can't start until noon, so that's three hours or so effectively gone to waste...

TOCA & BSB also run on Sundays. As Ian has said, race meetings at Oulton can't start until mid-day on Sundays, so it makes one-day Sunday meetings pointless.

I don't think there's ever been racing on Easter Sunday at Oulton. Certainly, in the last few years there have been Saturday/Monday bike meetings.

Britcarfan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Me and the missus are going on Monday. We haven't been to The British GT/F3 at Oulton before. I went to Oulton for the first time for the EERC meeting last Saturday. At the EERC meeting I was able to drive around the infield rather than having to abandon the car in a certain place. Its better that way because its quicker and easier to move to a different viewing point between or even during races. The point I am taking my time to get to is- Can anyone tell me if you normally have to abandon your car for the bigger meetings such as British GT/F3 at Oulton, or will I still be free to drive around the infield?

You should be ok for driving about, as there won't be huge crowds. Although OP does draw decent crowds (and it is a bank holiday, and the first big meeting of the season).

So what exactly is the parking procedure at Oulton Park, can we park where we want to or not?

That was the case last time I visited a few years back.

BTW, if you've not been before you'll really enjoy the meeting.

Fantastic, compact circuit, like a mini Nurburgring, lol

Well after driving it a few times on Race Driver 3, I've spotted a few "viewing places" which should be good to hang out in for a while.

One thing I have noticed from the game and pictures etc is those crappy semi-temporary chicanes they seem to have like Foulstons and the one before Knickerbrook. It seems to me that they really ought to tidy those places up and have something more permanent in place rather than the unsightly walls of tyres blocking the track.

Either that or get rid of them completly and enlarge the run-off area at Knickerbrook.

There are no semi-temporary chicanes there, I am slightly puzzled by that remark. Both Britten's and Hizzy's, to give them their latest names, are permanent corners. Possibly tyres or similar are used to block the 'straight on' route - but you can't really put anything more permanent there as those bits of track are still used in different configurations, for example on the Fosters circuit.
