Anyone got their tickets for the HRDC meeting at Mallory on Sunday ? Post's just been but still no sign of anything...so I guess I've got a day off this weekend .

Oh dear, not a very memorable day.
Highlight for me was talking at Breakfast with 'Whizzo' and Simon Hadfield.

It was pretty busy and fairly entertaining up at the Hairpin. If anyone invents a way of collecting all the oil that gets dumped there we could start our own oil company.

No major names to drop though, just interesting cars and racers to chat to .

Thanks to the marshals who gave me a push (off the circuit into the car park!) after I lost all gears (grey 100E). Rather annoyed with the breakage, as I was expecting 15th, qualified 10th, and was running in 4th when it broke!

I used to love Mallory but it's is not doing too well these days. Last weekend's BARC meeting was really sad. Four not very big grids of mainly not very interesting cars, 2 short races each, long lunch break and still finished ridiculously early.

Still the 750MC usually liven things up a bit....though even they aren't bringing some of their more competetive classes .

Mr Brice,

You should have been with Bill & I in the pitlane!

Considering I hadn't actually turned up to work, I spent an extremely busy day and am not sure how much walking I actually did (why are you always at the wrong end of the pitlane when something happens?) And walking because I don't run these days!

PS: We could hear you on the radio, even if you weren't getting any answer from race control!

As per the Blue Book there were "An adequate number of competent marshals". But put it this way, some of us were quite lonely with no-one to talk to...unless one of the racers parked his car and came for a chat, which they seemed to with some frequency where I was .

You are very welcome,It was very heavy for a little car,but then i am getting on a bit! I had one of those for my first car... only it was a 107e 997cc with a 4 speed box' unlike the 100e 1172cc side valve with the 3 speeder in it....it was agreat little car ... you would'nt beleive how side ways you could get it!!!

Any way at least you left the circuit in a polite way,not like Peter Burton who charged the barrier we standing behind at a phenomenal rate of knots with total brake failure...he was a lucky lad and a jolly nice bloke too,all he wanted to do was rush off to the paddock to jump in his other car ready for the next race ! but we held onto him until he was checked over by the medics after the race,THEN he jumped in his second car and took a podium...proper chap.

When I referred to this meeting on the BTCC Thread, someone posted an "off topic" response, when all I was trying to do was to say that there are other "race meetings" than BTCC - so why not give them a try (especially as it seemed most on that thread were having a moan). This thread, I believe, proves my point that there are some "jolly good chaps" out there driving/mechanicing and you make the best out of motorsport marshalling what you will.

Bigger ain't always Better.

Question to Mods: Don't know if it has been done before, but could a winter thread be on the differences between "high profile" and "clubbie" meetings and how we, as marshals, approach them? Just a thought.

Thanks Woolley.

I'll leave it a little while before starting it up. Even we still have one meeting to go!
