DTM or ETCC?
Both are big rivals for the best touring car championship in the world - which do you think will be the best series in 2004?
DTM
ETCC

ETCC. I don't like F1 spirit of DTM races.

Of course ETCC too. I prefer ETCC cars because they are more near of street cars.

DTM - the cars are just soooooo much more impressive. The DTM is the best tin top series around at the moment (in terms of machinery and driver quality).

I think Zanardi will help the profile of ETCC a lot as it will attract casual motorsport fans to it. Hopefully this should also work in Britain, and the Donington crowd will be bigger!

DTM, better driving standards...
I've watched ETCC races in the past and been amazed at the amount of deliberate punting that goes on....it's almost as if "Ok, I'll try to overtake you, but make it hard for me and you'll be in the gravel trap" DTM cars look cooler, sound cooler, race on better tracks (well,.......up to last year...bye bye Austria and Donington! ) and I'd better chuck in "in my opinion" before people lynch me! |

i feel they are too different for me to choose- i would say ETCC but i follow DTM as well, i like the car variety in ETCC (rear and front drivers) i like the purpose built machinery of DTM.
well there is always Speed GT which is a hybrid of the two, maybe that should suffice. |

I like the ETCC more, ETCC cars are touring cars, DTM cars are more like GT's.
+ I like the fact that there are more manufacturers in ETCC. |

I don't think they can be compared, they are different styles of championship under the tin top banner. Whats so great about having an ex formula one driver? Those listed above weren't exactly great whilst they were in formula one.

Usually drivers finished their careers in touring cars (ETCC, DTM,....) or sportscars weren´t great in formula one.

DTM was awesome in early 90's, when cars were real monsters. Now..it's only a shadow of old good times.
So now i prefer ETCC. |

ETCC because they are in England at the LG racing weekend at Donington Park.

So it is the other way round, MSC did a real bad job inside a DTM MB 190 in the early ´90. So it´s better for the series to have more "not so grat" formula drivers in the field!? By the way I like both. DTM because of it´s powerfull machines and ETCC because of the variety of brands and the tighter races througout the field. But I hope the ETCC officials are going to do a much better job this year and try to bann the "auto scooter" way of driving of some pilots. solong jpm |

ETCC .. but DTM is also pretty impresive ..
driving standards .. i remember a lot of punting in BTCC before 1999 and in the late STW in Germany .. |

My reasoning for choosing ETCC (for this season at least) is simple:
ETCC - can marshal because it is at Donington DTM - cannot marshal because it is not at Donington |

Looking at the DTM testing it seems all of the new DTM cars will be competitive against one another. We could have 16 cars fighting for victories during the season but in the ETCC, the winners will probably only come from Tarquni, Giov and the 5 works BMWs!

Wow, you were so detailed in your pros/cons that it's hard to say which is better. I think the DTM drivers more or less come from the same background/nationality while the ETCC ones have more diverse ethnic and racing backgrounds.

Even though I enjoy both, I voted for the ETCC. First and foremost because of the second ETCC race at Monza last year - that was one helluva race
Secondly because I'm not even sure I'll be able to see the DTM on TV this year... |
