Do you think we'll see Ken Block or Tanner Foust back this year?

I was really happy to read the news about Petter. He's such a class act.

One new rule is changing a lot for 2015, BOTH starters of a WorldRX team can be changed for each WRX round now.

That should be handy for the Monster team if they have another year like 2014!

Not strictly rallycross news, but further to the Andrew Jordan conversation earlier in the thread...

http://news.motorsportvision.co.uk/f...hes-to-mg.aspx

...Jordan has signed with MG for the BTCC.

Anyone noticed that one of the TWO Münnich Audi S3 SuperCars on their New Years Card had the starting no #77... Coincidence?

Didn't Rene run with number 77 on his WTCC car in 2014?

PG Andersson might return next year but will probably only do some races with EKS who he is currently talking to.

That's my conclusion:
Quote:
The 14-times BTCC race winner has immediately set his sights on regaining the crown he won two seasons ago, and says he aims to be “more prepared than ever” in a bid to achieve this. The 25-year-old concedes he was “doing too much” in 2014, a season where he also took part in the British round of the World Rallycross Championship and tested GT machinery for Triple Eight and Aston Martin.

...

“I want to be more prepared than I have been in the past and this package will allow me to focus 100 per cent on the job of driving. From my pre-event planning and preparation to my mental approach and fitness, I need to make sure that I am more prepared than ever in every aspect. I need to be better, because I didn’t think I was as good in 2014 as I was the year before. I was doing too much.”

We have known him for some time and with his experience, this car and the Yokohama ADVAN A005 tyre, I am sure that we will enjoy a successful year. In addition to competing with Yokohama, Ollie will continue to provide Yokohama tyres to the Rallycross community through RX Racing, including the new tyre to competitors who wish to use it alongside him in the Supercar class."

For O’Donovan it is the kind of backing needed to sustain a challenge at this year’s title and he is looking forward to 2015 indeed and said “The partnership with Yokohama is very important to both myself and Team RX Racing in Rallycross. We have used the tyres on the RX150’s for many years, and have proved how good they are, so to have them on the car as well is superb.” He went on to add “Team RX Racing will contest all the rounds of the MSA British Championship this year, as well as up to six rounds of the World Rallycross Championship, so it is going to be a busy year, but one the team and I are looking forward to.”
...looks like a number of World appearances for Ollie O'Donovan.

The car is also described as being based on an R5 Fiesta shell - so the Rally GB scrutineering sticker on the cage makes sense there! It'd be interesting to know how much has changed / will change on the shell to complete the conversion to Rallycross spec - I assume things like radiator positioning for one will be changed.

Yeah, I'd be interested to know that as well. Aside from the shell I wonder how much of the R5 is retained once the car has been fully converted?

The R5 engine is 1.6L, isn't it? So that must get binned. I assume the transmission gets replaced as well? I think the R5 uses a Sadev unit, but I can't imagine that is rated for rallycross levels of power? (The little blurb sheet from Autosport also mentions Sellholm transmission, which would imply its a different unit)

I assume the car will retain the MacPherson strut configuration, so I guess the original suspension units could be used, though perhaps fine tuned/overhauled for rallycross?

Irish rallycross driver Ollie O’Donovan will embark on a full campaign in the FIA European Rallycross Championship this season. He will also race at the British round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Lydden Hill, and is considering competing in the French round at Loheac. O’Donovan will race a brand new Ford Fiesta Supercar, built by Tony Bardy Motorsport. With the new car still in build, O’Donovan borrowed a similar machine to display at the Autosport International show last week to reveal his plans.
Now we know it .

Former World Rally driver Manfred Stohl will race full-time in the World Rallycross Championship this season, driving for the newly formed World RX Team Austria squad.

The team was launched in Vienna on Thursday evening, where six-time WRC podium finisher Stohl was announced as lead driver, alongside team owner Max Pucher.

The two Ford Fiestas will be built by Stohl's preparation company, Stohl Racing.
"When Max and I had first contact, he immediately told me about his dream and vision to eventually bring an Austrian team to the World Rallycross Championship," said Stohl.
"Without Max's commitment, this project would have never have happened. I am very pleased that he chose Stohl Racing to be the builder of our Ford Fiestas.

What does this mean exactly?

Find that amazing considering his team were largely suposed to be running the cars in 2014.

I presume Bergteamett had more invovlement and were not impressed, I dont blame them, but of a driver should ahve been moving too EKS (which in my opinion is the strongest car in the field) it would be Topi.
Marklund was OK, but nothing special, Larsson is far better and Marklund is largely there coz of who he is.

Enerberg anyone? How could anyone ignore that talent? Leppihalme another,m Jeanny scratching round for rides with Doran in a fall to bits special, just shows its not what you know eh.
