*The trouble with Tsuchiya (#25) seems to be the bungle of the fuel cut valve. http://www.as-web.jp/supergt/485941?all *The Lexus squad had introduced engine updates including engine control system in the Suzuka Round. http://www.as-web.jp/supergt/485742?all *Keihin (#17) crashed at final corner. They damaged the monocoque. They may be forced to replace the monocoque. The chassis will be airlifted in the Thailand round. |

Look of mistakes and drama in that race. It's a tough and competitive series. Just hope the action is as good for the rest of the season

According to Takeshi Tsuchiya tweet, -The fuel cut valve that cuts the fuel at the time of crash has malfunctioned. -Pace down at the end of the race seems to be due to suspension problems, not by tire. |

Well the series works because the cars have fairly equal performance, so it's down to the teams who does the best job. Those that have been in the series longer are bound to have a head start

The K-Tunes was catching up very fast. I thought that was all down to tires.

Tsutomu Tojo (Team Tom's engineer)'s SGT report
Tojo appreciates Bridgestone. He says that it was not an accident that Lexus + Bridgestone matched the race perfectly with the tire compound range. This is due to the Suzuka test in March and April and 4 days x 2 times tire tests in Sepang. https://ameblo.jp/tsutomutojo/entry-12465033929.html |

This weekend I watched the English coverage on the Super GT Youtube of both rounds 1 and 2.
Amie Izawa did English commentary for the Fuji race and I felt she did a pretty good job. Seemed a bit nervous and excited at the start, but I think it worked pretty well. She's obviously experienced with Super GT (is the pit reporter) and motorsport in general, which was a positive change from the first round coverage. |

Agreed, but it would be nice if Motorsport TV invited Amie-san to do English commentary.

Car Watch tire manufacturers interview (Hidekazu Fujishiro/YH)
https://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1187268.html *About GT300 tire -The problem with our tires is that performance varies with the type of vehicle (FR, MR). -Competitors have successfully diverted GT500 tire tech to GT300. -Because our GT500 tires have "peaky" performance, we could not yet diverted that tech to GT300 class, which has many users. -So we are working to make the manufacturing process more efficient. *About GT500 tire -The qualifying results are satisfactory. However, there are still many problems in long-run performance. -We have a technical solution to this. However, manufacturing equipment is required. -We plan to introduce a tire that introduced that technology during this season. |

Car Watch tire manufacturers interview (Toshiharu Tanigawa, Takeshi Imakita/DL)
https://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1187296.html *About GT500 tire development -We have continued to develop structures and compounds. -In the opening round, the qualifying time that had been a problem so far has been improved. -We have improved the speed at low speed corners by the structure improvement, and have improved the degradation and pick-up by the compound improvement. *About GT500 tire development -The tire of the three machines we supply this season have become the same size. Therefore, we can respond in the common technical range. *About this season's target -Our target is to win one for the GT500 and recapture the champion for the GT300. |

Car Watch tire manufacturers interview (Hiroaki Odajima/MI)
https://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1187207.html *About 2018 result -It can not be said that it is a sufficient result in sporting aspect. However, it was the top in the GTR squad. *About significance of Michelin joining SGT -It is important for us to have multiple tire manufacturers in the same car model (GTR). -It makes sense to join Michelin in SGT because there is a competition. *Isn't it natural that NISMO is a factory team and will beat rival GTRs? -We had supplied tires to MOLA and had won the champion. *About the reason for the slump in last season -The reason is that we changed the direction of tire development in the middle of the season. *This season's target -It is to win among GTR users. In addition, it is better if we become a champion. |

Car Watch tire manufacturers interview (Koji Terada/BS)
https://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1187839.html *About 2018 season -What we value more than anything is to make a tire that does not burst. -A year has passed without such problems. Thanks to that, a championship was won. *About GT500 tire for NSX (MR) -It is almost the same as the tire for FR. -However, midship vehicles have strict input to tires. It is probably because the rear is heavy and the front is light. -However, the situation may change as midship handicap ballasts are mounted on the front from this year. -There is a difference to the extent that the detailed specifications change with the tires for FR. *About GT300 class -The GT500 tire and the GT300 tire have the same technical aspect. *About 2019 tire development direction -The aim is to raise peak grip and widen the temperature range. *Do you have measures against degradation? -We do anything we can do. *This season's target -For GT500 at least a champion, also for GT300. |

Team RQ's (#22) launches crowdfunding program.
Target amount: 2,000,000 yen https://readyfor.jp/projects/rqs22 *They say that the SGT activity cost for one year is about 100 million yen. *WadaQ's main business is used car dealership, and is engaged in racing activities with its funds. *The cause of their poor performance is lack of funds. *The crowdfunding fund will be spent on consumables such as tires and parts. |

Autosport SGT Thiland round qualifying report
https://www.as-web.jp/supergt/497443?all There is a reason for Team D-station's qualifying breakthrough. AMR analyzed Yokohama's SGT tires by seven post rig of Multimatic before Thailand round. And it also used tire measurement machine by AMR's own money. D-station had used this data for machine set up. Last edited by Japanese Samurai; 30 Jun 2019 at 03:51. |

Yamaha make tyres now, according to MotorsportTV's excellent commentary team.
How do you even confuse Yokohama with Yamaha? |

Well, we can't help it but to endure their mispronounciations. Heck, they got it wrong in regards to Jann Mardenborough starting his career in Sony Academy.
