British Formula Ford 2009!!

Hi,

Does anyone know any drivers that are entering the British Formula Ford Championship in 2009?

It will be interesting to see who will be competing and I'm sure the names will be flowing in after the Silverstone sampler day in December....................

I doubt anyone has signed a contract yet, waiting until both the taster day and waiting to see if the current financial crisis passes over!!

Getem Racing still has places left, contact me of you're seriously interested.

Jamun Racing services are due to test Irish superstar William Herron in the coming weeks. As he's been likened to Wayne Boyd, that isn't a surprise!

I was chatting to Josh Benson from Marque Cars at the Festival and subject to budget he is entering Duratec. 4th in the National FF1600 so I believe the competition could be widespread in 2009. Bring in some of the runners from 2008 and it could be a great competitive year for British Formula Ford.

Luke Williams (?) has been testing a lovely green Ray at Silverstone this week. Josh West (?) has tested the Speedsport Van Diemen, as has Blanchard's 08 mechanic Scott Malvern. I believe Scott has also been testing in a Jamun Mygale. Daniel Cammish is testing for several teams in the coming week, the European Karter looking to start his single seater career next season.
Fluid Motorsport Developments have signed Ben Barker (?) to pilot the first of their three Van Diemens next season.

Why have I never heard of these people!!! :S

I believe the works Ray squad may also have been testing a driver, but I don't know the name!
The Juno will be out testing again next week, so hopefully we will be able to see its true pace in the dry.

Plenty of news regarding testing in Autosport this week. Lots to write, if anyone wants to know particularly (outside uk maybe?) I'll write it up.

Festival Highlights on Motors TV.

For those interested, Motors will be repeating highlights of this year's festival tomorrow (Monday 24th) at 1100hrs GMT. It is actually highlights of the Kent final and the Duratec final. Pretty good racing as usual. Catch it if you can.

Formula Ford testing

You wont have heard of Josh West before. He is 16 years old and has only started karting this year to get a small bit of racecraft before he stepped into single seaters. He's really inexperienced so the test day at Silverstone was his first go in a Formula Ford. As mentioned he was run by Speedsport under the guidance of Mike O'Brien of Speedsport with driver tuition from 2007 British Formula Ford Champion Callum MacLeod. It was tricky conditions for his first test on 14th November with testing being delayed because of fog initially, then pretty greasy all day. Next time out is next Tuesday, 2nd December at the Ford Sampler Day so hoping for progress then. Havent got budget for season in 09 so just gonna have as many odd outings as money will allow. Pics of the 14th Nov test day can be seen on www.jakobebrey.com

Josef Newgarden has tested a JTR Mygale and a Raysport Ray. Scott Malvern has also tested for Fluid Motorsport in a Van Diemen. Ex Formula Vee Racer Jason Mills will step up to Duratecs this year with the Myerscough college team in their Van Diemen. Two new teams will be joining us, Staffordshire University and Enigma Motorsport, run by Linton Stutely and Thomas FARQUHAR (everyone calls him Parker!!). Juno will be entering with Hillspeed and possibly another team next year, talks are ongoing.
Zaamin Jaffer has also been testing for Ray, I believe that may be a done deal for next year. Daniel Cammish has extened his formula ford knowledge with tests for Kevin Mills Racing and JTR. I have spoken with both Josh Benson and Graham Carroll, both wishing to race in duratecs next year, teams unknown. Carroll has been testing with Fluid, but has been in discussions with other teams.
James Cole has been testing with Jamun before 2009 when he will make a push for the championship in his second year of duratecs.

Malvern rapid but skint

Tim Blanchards former mechanic Scott Malvern has tested for his employer Jamun (Mygale) as well as Fluid Van Diemen (Ford RS Car), Speedsport (Van Diemen) and Juno. From what I've seen he has been pretty rapid in everything but I also hear the kid has no money or backing which is a pity. Think Juno may be interested in signing him though. Not only can he peddle a car round but he did help engineer the champion team last year so that must be worth something to the new kids on the block. Watching with interest!

Jamun still deciding............

Jamun will make up their minds this week who will occupy the remaining two seats. Despite what was printed in MN last week James Cole (drove for Jamun in 08) and Josh Hill (slow but has the name & lots of other benefits) are definately in. Strongest contenders for the remaining seats are impressive American Kent FF winner Josef Newgarden, Irishman Kent FF1600 star Patrick McKenna and a young Brazilian karter, whose name escapes me, and was putting it into the scenery a lot at Silverstone sampler day last week but is believed to have great potential. Outside bets are this season's 'Tim Blanchard' mechanic Scott Malvern (very quick but unlikely as he is struggling for budget) and the other Irish lad Herran (sorry have forgotten his Christian name).

I'm tipping Cole to have a very good 2nd year and Newgarden to be the main contenders for 09 title honours although I'm sure Malvern would be in the mix if they were to sign him up!

Anyone know who was testing today at Oulton Park. And can anyone shed any light on Jamun Racing's lineup for 09. I believe Josh Hill and James Cole are basically confirmed.

The young Brazilian karter is called Fabio Gamberini, the Irish lad is called William Herron. I would expect Herron to end up at Jamun as he is backed by Chas Cole and has been heralded as the next Wayne Boyd.

Getem will start testing mid way through January, we have a number of people interested and lined up for tests.

I heard that Herron was to be a driver with backing from Chas Cole and Johnny Herbert in their new driver development scheme.

Josh Hill has been confirmed as a Jamun driver for 2009.

Thanks for the info Peter, although I already knew about Kevin Mills testing, was wondering if anyone else was there!
