I think Ocon made a move that had no bebenift to himself. Yes at that point he had the speed, but over a lap Max was quicker. So all he was doing was causing himself to be lapped at the next few corners showing himself down. It was pointless.

If criticism can be levels at Max it is what Lewis said. Max could have been conversation at that point.

However I’m with the Stewards on this one.

I agree with Lewis. Max should have backed off, he was in the lead and it would have made no difference if he had just let Ocon go, Max could have got him next time.

Maybe not in turn 1, but when the two cars were alongside each other in turn 2 Max should not have turned in.

And yet Lewis never really seems to make contact when being overtaken or overtaking, that’s why he’s been so successful in wheel to wheel racing. Look Ocon was wrong, but max had the opportunity to back out or give a bit more room too, especially since Ocon was on fresh tyres

Of course he should. He's ahead, he's the leader and Ocon failed to unlap himself. This is 100% completely on Ocon, which is why he got a 10 second stop and go which is one of the heftiest penalties that can be dealt out. He and he alone explicitly caused this collision.

Ocon caused the collision, of that I have no disagreement. But a more mature driver would have given the backmarker more room, so you could view it as Max had a chance to avoid the collision and chose not to.
