Please help identify these cars...
It might be a tad cheeky of me asking this, seeing that I'm still a newbie here, but a friend 'o mine took these pics at a recent historic event and I have no clue what these cars are. Can anyone help?
This, I think, could a 54-ish Elva, all aluminium? http://www.xpphotoalbum.com/data/500...1-med.jpg?2082 This one is a Formula Vee, no doubt, but is it a 60's Capital?  And this one has me stumped alltogether. It could even be a homemade jobby. The rims look British...  Thanks in advance, Pierre. |

First one's a 1958-ish Elva
Don't know about the others The 500 looks like a Cooper, but not quite. And not with wire wheels |

The third car is definitely an F3 500 (1946-1960). Whilst it appears to have the Fiat Topolino suspension, front and rear (with the transverse leaf forming the upper link) normally associated with Coopers, I'm pretty sure it's not. Some later Coopers (Mk IX onwards) did run disk brakes & wires, but the bodywork for these later models was much lower & sleeker.
The combination of Topolino suspension and fairly bluff body suggests it's from about 1949-52. It might possibly be a JBS, but the problem is that there were an incredible number of home-built specials (including some from RSA) in early F3. Take a look at the Owners' Association website - www.500race.org - and browse through "Marques" In the meantime, I've bounced it to my brother (who pulled the website together) - have you got any other clues you can give me (engine make, markings?) |

The easy way would be to get the programme for the event at which the pictures were taken!

Dave the trouble is some cars are not mentioned in the programmes. They are excepted as late entries, and either race or are on show.
