I think perhaps the black Group A VN Commodores that are being asked about are the two that were offered as prizes in a competition run by Tooheys in the lead up to the 1991 Tooheys 1000. IIRC, another VN Group A was given away in a competition of Castrol's not long after.

Correct. New Les Small engine about 2 years ago.

Was for sale in the last 18 months. Still had the "gold" interior (Ray Smith).

The Crosby car was for sale a while back, it had been restored to its 1986 James Hardie 1000 look. Was it's last ATCC appearance in 1988 at Symmons Plains, in Peter Fitzgerald's hands?

Not a touring car, but no one will know on the rally forum, what happened to these three cars from Australian rallying??

-Greg Carr's Fiat Abarth 131
-Geoff Portman's troublesome Bluebird
-Greg Carr's Group A Alfa Romeo GTV6 & Lancia Delta Integrale
Greg still ownes the Fiat Abath 131.

I was going through some old DVD's over the weekend and I saw these two Group A/C beasts..........

1) Russell Worthingtons mighty mighty ....................Mazda 626!!!! on the grid at Lakeside in Rd8 of the ATCC 1983.

2) Ian Thompsons much much much modified BMW 3 series on the grid at Rd2 of the 1985 ATCC at Sandown.

These 2 must be up there with that standard silver volvo, the Fiat Uno and the previously discussed Mitsubishi Colt as being some of the more unusual race cars from the era.

Then you look down through the field at Hamilton today and there is not a Mazda 626 in site.....Damm you V8 Supercars.

If you are talking about the ones that were prizes in 1991 where you won 2 of them. I know of the person who won them. Unfortunatly, this person was my Aunties Brothers Friend, so I can't help you more than that apart from the fact that they were in NSW for an undisclosed amount of time. I Know what happened to the Red Tooheys Ute that bottle shop owners could win in 1995. Its is still happily driving around the Sydney area, still with Tooheys 1000 plastered all over it. Hope I could be of some help.

They had the two race cars and a T-car that got commandeered by the Euro's at one point during practice, didn't they?

Yep, there's a photo of the T-car on track at Bathurst in one of the issues of the short-lived Thunderdome magazine.

I'll have to check the book, but didn't the JPS T-car replace the crashed #46 Ravaglia/Pirro car, but ended up racing as #40, with #40 becoming #46 by raceday.... (or have i dreamt that up )?

I'd love to see a photo of that if anyone can find it, or a photo of the rear of #44 at Bathurst that year.

Found this and found it interesting the Volvo 360 touring car. There's some stuff in this site as well about the Petch/Sheppard Volvo turbos.

It appears Mr Voight has had DJRAU11 re-painted in DJR/Sheel colours here:
http://www.my105.com.au/classified.asp?id=8910

And it appears what was once one of Dick Johnson's Torana's for sale at the moment too!
http://www.my105.com.au/classified.asp?id=8911

Also, ex-Gp C Mini, the John Lord WD-40 car (i have seen footage of this car racing at Sandown), now a road car.

What was the origin of the #44 Peter McKay/Graham Moore "Ghostbusters" RX7 from Bathurst 1984, forming part of the Chequered Flag magazine backed team with Bob Morris/Barry Jones in #41?

Presuming both became Sports Sedans??

The #44 car was 1983 #32, built by Tasmanian car dealer and sports car racer Johnny Walker (not to be confused with F5000 racer of the same name) and was co-driven by later NASCAR racer Gene Cook and run under TAA airline sponsorship.

The #41 Jones car is now in NZ as a Sports Sedan type thing. The #44 ex-Walker car is still a Group C and is/was in Qld with the same guy who had the Burgess Goodrich car.

I believe he still has both of these cars, as well as a Moffat RX-7! I hope he plans to race them sometime soon.
