There would have to be an immense amount of manoeuvring in the background and maintaining the confidence of a lot of staff, in both teams. |

Horner points out that it is all over for Mercedes as they have become too complacent
https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/15...cy-creeping-in Actually he doesn’t. It’s a dreadful article with the wrong things emphasized in the title. It was bait and I clicked. Mainly because I thought of this thread. |

Clear that Mercedes are on the decline.
The rot set in at Monza, they struggled to achieve at Mugello and again fell down in Russia. Only 33.3333333% 1-2 finishing results from the last three races. All over bar the shouting. |

I've bought my two copies that I buy each year. The one with the Le Mans supplement and the following week with the race report. I haven't even opened them yet....

OT: I think that Autosport is getting better. The LM issue was decent and we’ve got a national supplement this week.
But that wasn’t their finest article. Still they’re able to follow up with a it’s not complacency piece. https://www.autosport.com/f1/feature...of-complacency |

So Mercedes have announced that their W12 reveal will be 2-3-21. Plenty of Americans asking if that means tomorrow?

Unfortunately you have to wait a bit longer. We still don't know who will be running in the car this year. In fact I do wonder if we even know if Merc will be running this year at this rate...

Personally i cannot see them not being at the front when the new regulations kick in. The big advantage that Mercedes have is the engine and thats not changing in the new regulations.

Merc should be in front again, they won’t have lost that much of an advantage if at all, but there should still be enough races for other teams to win

They should quit with immediate effect to save themselves any further embarrassment

Or just sand bagging until the engine regs are finalized.
Paddy Lowe interview here with a very interesting insight into the Mercedes' board and Toto "performance management strategies" at 53:45 minutes in. "... Toto and the board of Daimler worried about looking too good." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j65L14gt19c |

After today's utterly abysmal performance, the writing must be on the wall for Mercedes.

All falling apart. Sixth constructor car home. Botch pitstop.
Still, it was good while it lasted. |

While I follow no team I am not convinced the results of the weekend are representative of anything except the circumstances that Monaco produces. Perhaps declaring it all over which started this thread might not be so wise....short memories??
