Sunday and Monday both look like great days. Will be attending Monday as per what is becoming tradition for me

What on Earth or Texas does a Cantina shirt look like?

This is just getting better, I get to see M1's this Friday at the Nurburgring, then get back and see another race seemingly full of another dream car. What spec are your CSL's?
edit
If the cars on your website are the cars you have I would guess Gp.2?

From the series regulations-

'Touring 70s– is for individual cars that are Group 2 European Touring Car which were eligible for racing in the European Touring Car Championship in period, which were built and entered in the ETCC prior to 1st January 1978.'

Highlights are the V12 Broadspeed Jaguar XJC, CSLs and 'Cologne' Capris.

Although specifically for Gp2 there are sometimes 'Invitation' cars as well.

I agree with Mike - if this series gets bigger grids it will be one of the best in current historics... to see the Broadspeed Jaguar, Batmonbiles and Cologne Capri's sloogging it out is excellant. Out of interest is the TWR XJS too young? What are the other natural contenders?

Yes, the XJS was Group A. The Gp2 ETCC was class based and we all look at the big cars but not the small ones! BMW 2002 / 320, Alfa GTA (M & J), Alfetta, Toyota Celica & Corolla, Audi 80 & 50, Scirrocco, NSU TT, Skoda 130, Fiat 128, Imp, Datsun 1200 Coupe etc.........................

Now if we could some of them mixed in with period paint schemes it really would be a spectacle!

Not what in Texas, what in England. Texas Embassy Cantina is right off Trafalgar Square in the old White Star offices.

Apparently they don't sell the shirt I have anymore, but it has the logo in the upper left of this page on it:

For those in the know, is an Escort competitive in that series? What are the winning cars?

Simon - liked the ad in Motorsport but looks I didn't see the actual name/type of car anywhere in it!?

Hi Ben, winning Gp2 car should be 'the' Jag, a CSL or GAA engined Capri. If someone came along with a correct spec Camaro that would be a contender as well. Escort won at Snet last month and at Mallory end of last season from memory, but in period mainly class wins only, with odd overall when reliability hit others. I'm not sure how many of the current Escorts have HTP and are correct Gp2 spec, mine has / is, also the car of Laki Christoforou, but no idea regarding others and it can make a lot of difference!

Mike what about the Mk2 Escort that was next to me at Snet? It looked a very potent machine (albeit fragile it transpired) was that an invitee or a period correct car?
What were the grids in period?

That's got an injected BDG and has been very quick with very quick driver but suffers oil loss rather often....... Don't know about HTP but appears correct from the outside. It is a rep (I believe) of a Mk2 Zakspeed only ran in ETCC for few races before big rule changes in 1976.

Grids in period? If you have time take a look at Frank de Jong's superb website here-

Thanks Mike. It's a fantastic era and great cars. What I've seen at meetings personally tho is small grids - is that the norm? What else can you do with these cars apart from Masters?

No the model after it - Chris Snowden used to peddle a modsports version in the 90's with good success. I had a roadcar version as one of my first cars always had a soft spot for them. Looking at the Deyong website they seemed quite successful in period.

Errrrrr

If it's a Ford- Blue Oval against Focus, Cossies etc. Guess CSLs could run in a BMW series but that's about it. Mainland Europe has more interest, Germany and Netherlands I believe and Scandinavia also. In UK there are several cars that appear intermittently, but rarely all together. Hopefully the attraction of Brands GP will get some more out!

There you are Simon- 1976 Alfetta and you're sorted!
