I'm guessing the author of this piece of sensationalist dribble would also argue that driving her car while tweeting or talking on her mobile phone about Kim Kardashian's love life is perfectly acceptable.
Maybe she spend a day with either of the female drivers to see how 'light' the sport is.

I don’t believe in excessive political correctness and I am not a fan or believer of stereotypes, but this thread and some of the opinions expressed are building a poor (and probably undeserved) portrait of Australia.

It is an interesting contract to see how it's OK for Lowndes to say he "cocked" and "buggered" up laps in Quali today, Pye can refer to the size and placement of Jamie's genitalia, Red Bull can tweet about Will Davison's bedroom prowess (or lack thereof) and receive zero dollar penalties, but it's straight to $25k for Reynolds.

Wonder if Harvey Norman had anything to do with it.

Really? The terms used by Lowndes and Pye are common slang expressions to explain messing up and to do something brave. Not the greatest use of the english language but there is nothing sexual or degrading to them.

The comments by Reynolds were in a totally different context and implication.

The 888 comments are the kind that could have resulted in a similar fine as Reynolds received but like all things V8's - punishment and rule enforement must be inconsistentlyapplied at all times.

Sadly, you are right Richard.
It's a shame that some neanderthals here in Australia, like to wear their outdated, bonehead attitudes as a badge of honor. They're loud and proud of their lifestyle choices.
I hope Reynolds can move on from his moment of madness. The guy is a talent, who'll just have to learn to shut his trap, and get on with what he does best.....
He's not the first sports star to say something stupid, and he won't be the last.
