There have been a couple of one-off appearance of Formula Firsts in sprints and hillclimbs in the last couple of years but nothing to write home about! I have seen FFirsts at Loton & Curborough.

They were 95% the same, but there was a few differences to keep the cost of the FForward car down, the Vauxhall Junior was far stronger in a front end impact for a start.

I agree that there were some differences (Forward had wings and bigger wheels for a start) but the front end treatment was the same as the original FVJ - it was only with the FVJ Mk 2 16 Valve version that it got the stronger front end impact protection.

you'd have to be able to buy a new car off-the-shelf, which kinda scuppers FVee
err you can buy new cars off the shelf in Vee... AHS, GAC, Storm, Leastone, Sheane all sell brand new cars off the shelf in the UK, theres a pile of other customer chassis in USA, NZ, Canada, Oz, South Africa and South America.

Vee is the series you speak of... actually some guys did the first round of vee this year to get bloodied before going to FRenault.

It really was quite a lot of fun; a generally good bunch of personalities, wildly varied degrees of skill and experience, and identical cars... we all felt very much like a band of brothers, I seem to remember. We were always in trouble with the stewards, but as we kept pointing out; the cars were very difficult to keep in a straight line. To be honest, that was half the fun; they were real "flick-it-and-floor-it" beasts... excellent acceleration, no grip whatsoever. Paddock was particularly fun - about half a dozen different lines through the corner, each one as fast as any other... made for some very interesting manouveurs (sp?)! I can actually remember laughing aloud inside my helmet during several races! On one qualifying session at Brands Hatch I remember my team mate David Grant daring me to try taking paddock flat out to see if it could be done... it couldn't... oh, how we laughed...

I know this is a bit of a thread reserection but you will have to forgive me as I am new here.
I had a season and a bit with Fortec in the firsts as a techy, I ran Glen Tabor, Olly Gavin(end of the season), Shaun Balfe and did a couple of races with Duncan Verco.
Everyone was realy good fun, they were friendly and we had some great laughs. One guy that springs to mimd was Richard Redgrave (Redgrave Racing Boss), what a lovely guy, but always seemed to running from one crisis to another.

Richard Redgrave; there's a character! I remember Clair his daughter being fairly quick along with (driving) a rather attractive lady who's name escapes me from the Brands press office. Catherine Cox rings a bell.

Catherine Cox was with us (fortec) for a season, my mate engineered for her. She was quite a good driver and had some decent results. I alwayes wondered what happened to her.
Does anyone remember Graham Glew or Alan Mugglestone?
