Thinking of making the trip to EC on Jan 29 for the test day.

Will it be worth it and which teams will be participating ?

i went to Winton a couple of years back, apart from a massive red flag incident that delayed things by an hour, i had a good time.

interesting thing was that food and drinks price were not exorbitant.

I would say to go if you could and take stuff you want to get signed

went to two QR lauch days, well worth it. I think you will see most of the Queensland Based teams and some Fujitsu teams as well. They are great days, as mentioned above, take camera, and gear to be signed.

I've booked my flight up from Melbourne. EC a great track for taking photos, so too good an opportunity to resist.

I am guessing there is no QLD Pre Season test like there has been the previous couple of years? Always enjoy going to them although I cannot see anything in regards to it for 2011

Replaced by the Eastern Creek test... if all had gone well with the weather, QR would be in the process of being resurfaced right about now.

Interesting to see that Eastern Creek has been partially resurfaced recently

Any bets on who will do the first sub-1:30 laptime?

Yes the creek had a massive resurface of a total 700mtrs from a 3.9k track, big resurface

a good idea to have 1 test but a shame its not split up as well..

EC is to far away for me but I would recomend going because its a good relaxed day and a chance to take some good snaps and get close to the cars and drivers (at least thats my experience from the winton tests of the last few years)

The resurfacing has apparently smoothed out a lot of the bumps into Turn 2, so that could lead to later braking amd possibly more speed carried through the corner, which will help pickup time. The other resurfacing I don't know will help that much, but any extra grip from the surface is going to help. Weather prediction is some cloud and 25 degrees, which will be great. A day like today at EC is not fun to stand around in.

All 28 V8 Supercars Championship cars and their 2011 drivers as they prepare for the opening event of the season in Abu Dhabi in mid-February.

Cars will be on-track from 9am to 12.30pm

There will be a grid walk for fans at 12.30pm to see up close all of the new paint liveries and driver/team combinations.

Testing will resume following the grid walk and will run through to 5pm.

Only the regular Dunlop Control tyre is permitted to be used by teams between 9am and 2pm.

From 2pm until 5pm, teams with available softer Dunlop Sprint tyres are permitted to use them.

WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

* Potentially a fastest-ever V8 Supercar lap time around Eastern Creek! The softer Dunlop Sprint tyre has never been used at the circuit, which hasn’t hosted V8 Supercars since 2008 and has had sections resurfaced prior to Christmas. There’s the very real possibility of one driver being able to claim bragging rights this Saturday as the fastest man ever around the ‘Creek in a V8 Supercar.

* The first look on-track of reigning V8 Supercar Champion James Courtney in his new-look #1 Toll Holden Racing Team Commodore VEII.

* The first run of his replacement, James Moffat, in last year’s championship-winning car, the #18 Jim Beam Racing Falcon.

* The on-track debut of Will Davison in the #6 Trading Post FPR Falcon.

* The debut of four-time Bathurst winner Greg Murphy's new car and livery for the 2011 season.

* The new-look TeamVodafone Commodores of two-time champion Jamie Whincup and reigning Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 winner Craig Lowndes.

* The debut of reigning Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series Champion Steve Owen in the #49 VIP Petfoods Commodore from Paul Morris Motorsports.

* The new-look Supercheap Auto Commodore of 2005 V8 Supercar champion Russell Ingall.

* The return to the V8 Supercars Championship of David Reynolds, who takes over the #16 Stratco Racing Commodore this year.

I remember in 09 entry to the Winton and Ipswitch test days was a donation to the bushfire relief in Vic and flood relief in QLD.
