The MG Car Club of Queensland are hosting a 1 day club race meeting on short circuit B at Queensland Raceway to open this year's calendar. A wide variety of cars and classes are expected to appear, though Improved Production cars and Historic Touring cars are not likely to enter.

Hmmm...interesting that the MGCC are having their meeting at QR...

I think there will be a few Improved Production cars turning, at least a newcomer or two, and it is the last chance to use old rubber before they have to be binned.

Will be interesting to see what sort of fields they will get, as short circuit B- well it isn't everyone's favourite.

You're right, there may be a few newcomers to Improved Production stepping in at the shallow end, before the championship starts, but I would be very surprised to see any Historic Touring cars racing.

I like short circuit B, it's my favourite configuration at QR.

Of the short circuits people only like B, but from the majority of competitors I have talked to, they would rather run the whole circuit, like the touring cars.

But there are still a few problems out there, like several people wont race there again after the carry on with the life memberships becoming null and void, also the problems with the QMROA being left out of the loop, and WRT simply having it's own, unupdated mailing list for officials...is a bit of a drama.

Well the entry looks thin indeed. No Historic Touring Cars, few if any Improved Production touring Cars, no Formula Vees, 12 Saloon Cars and 18 Geminis as well as a few HQs and maybe some Spoirts Sedans. Oh, and round 1 of the Formula Ford State Championship.

Why is everyone giving this meeting a miss? Is it the track or the timing?

Well it seems to me as if most of the state level meetings this year are out there, and most of the categories are trying to spread an even number of meetings between the two venues. At the 24/25 meeting at least Sport Sedans, Sports Cars, FFord, and Improved Production have championship rounds...

Maybe it is like the November 2000 MGCC meeting where they forgot to tell the marshals it was on....this time they only forgot to tell the different categories....
