Skope Classic

I was just wondering if anyone outside of New Zealand had heard of this awesome classic meeting at Powerbuilt raceway in Chirstchurch?

This meeting has over 200 classic cars which ranges from pre-war to F5000's.... and other awesome cars... We always get oversea's drivers i.e. Abe Cogan from Monaco and drivers from the US.

I remember pics from previous Skope Classic meetings turning up in some of the Group A touring car threads in 'Motorsport History- Don't know much about the meeting, but have definitely seen pics of some of the Group A cars active in NZ (BMW 635s, TWR Bastos Rover etc).

As Roger said, held in February.

driftwood has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
The southern festival is a month long 4 venue meeting aroun dteh southern island of NZ the big meeting is teh SKOPE meeting at Ruapuna end of january and then the cars head off to the 3 other venues over the next 3 weekends of Feb
F5000 races attract some Brits the odd usa car owner and then they can ship cars to Oz for the PI meeting
The NZ organisers cant afford to give free shipping to their races like the Oz PI meeting do
Im sure if NZ could get a meeting every 3 years sorted out at the Poon and Pukekohe and then PI inviting certain era cars like Tasman F5000 and later FAtlantics to re create the Tasman F5000 F Pacific Gp A touring cars of yester year just like the Historics at Monaco do they would have a great event and could generate sponsorship to bring in certain cars drivers from EEC usa Oz
the real problem is NZ has around 3.2 million residents and will struggle to generate the funds however it would be a fantastic holiday for any driver great country fantastic sights good weather and the people are not too bad either !
