Schumacher says "Buy a Mercedes"

Quote:
stolen from grandprix.com
MICHAEL SCHUMACHER joined FIA President Max Mosley and German Transport Minister Kurt Bodewig on Tuesday in Cologne to unveil the second car to win the coveted five-star rating in Europe's independent crash-testing program Euro NCAP. The Mercedes C-class was the car in question and so joins the Renault Laguna in the pantheon of crash testing. The launch marks the first time that the Euro NCAP program has dealt with two-seater sports cars and off-roaders.

"I am delighted to support the program," said Michael Schumacher, "and I would encourage all consumer's in Europe to consider Euro NCAP's safety results before buying their next car."

In other words, Michael says buy a Mercedes...
Well I never thought I'd see the day

It had nothing to do with Mercedes exactly. Michael is a spokeperson for NCAP and they decided to award Mercedes.

Well, stranger things happened. For example I remember a certain Mika Hakkinen buying an F360 Modena. (Of course he quickly had to sell it; the trunk was not big enough to accomodate the groceries I believe....)

Well, If you have to drive what the team give you, I'd be in trouble. I would have to have both a Porsche and a Ferrari in my driveway. What does each team supply?

Ferrari: F50 pleaaaaaaaase

McLaren: Which Merc?

Williams: I'll have a M5 and a M3

Sauber: Hmmm?

Renault: not looking good, dont give me a Laguna

Jordan / BAR : NSX only - no civics

Jaguar / Arrows : Jags and Escorts?

Toyota : Corolla's?

Minardi: Shut up and get in the motorhome

I've finally worked out the real reason they all want to drive for Ferrari/Williams/McLaren. They are the only teams supplying decent cars.

As far as i'm aware Merc have given their drivers their huge 4x4's and both the ranault drivers have a Renaultsport V6 Clio. Toyota is probably a Celica.

I heard Montoya had ordered a special 200kW MINI Cooper S. The blokes at Cooper Works said, "not a problem, sir."

I think it's good of Michael to get behind a road safety initiative and give credit where credit is due, irrespective of brand.

I'd take the following:

Ferrari: F550
Williams: M3
McLaren: SL55
Renault: Clio V6
Sauber: Maserati 4200GT
Jordan/BAR: Honda S2000
Jag/Arrows: S-type R or XKR with R features
Minardi: Whatever I could afford

Minardi also can supply a rent-a-car. I'm not sure if PS was in that business if he was young.

Michael is still in the **** for 1997 - I think this is just part of his ongoing community service punishment...
