I'd heard of that Lady, and Helle Nice of course, but not another from the last century- Violette Morris. Mick Walsh writes about her this month in CSCC. If you don't read the mag suggest you Google her name, as long as you are not of a nervous disposition......

A question for Peter Mallet; Peter I am intrigued by your tag line. What on earth is a ' selfie'?
Sorry to ask but I am quite old. Bob. |

Thinking about it, there's probably some male historic racers that could benefit from the same op..... |

10/10th's member, mab01uk, has put up some Youtube videos of a selection of Special Saloon Car races from the 1960s, and they remind me of just how quick some of those Minis were. http://tentenths.com/forum/showthrea...95#post3605595
I was in a couple of those races (this is the first time that I have seen my old Anglia moving), and in one of those races I was circulating with a couple of other swift Anglias, one driven by George Whitehead (WRA) and the other I am not certain because it could have been one of three, Gerry Amato, Roger Taylor or Zakia Redjep and none of them were slouches. Yet we appeared to be nowhere near on pace at Brands. Amazing that after nearly fifty years have elapsed, suddenly a pictorial reminder just appears. |

For some reason when following the links for the 60s races You Tube also offered some videos of Gyrocopter Girl from more recent times and, for one reason and another, I found myself somewhat distracted.
Nice videos, nice flying machines and nice weather and nice locations. A couple of other nice things as well. All in all, very nice. |

It's mostly a fear that, as a wannabe celebrity, if you don't take pictures of yourself no one else will do it for you.
15 minutes of fame and all that. Just keep taking the SOMA and following the official pacification media and all will be well Bob. Nothing to worry about. Nanny States know best. |

I'm not sure why some people make a fuss about selfies, did no one ever have their picture taken by some landmark or other or with someone when on holiday or visiting a place of interest? Doing it with a phone just makes it easier now.

Thinking about people taking Selfies with a 'celeb', the result is worthless to anyone except the taker. Get the celeb to autograph a photo, programme or summat appropriate to the occasion, like we used to do, then there is added value now or in the future......

Not really. You can print the electronic version just the same as the film version. It's actually easier because you don't risk Happy Snappy mixing up the films. And you can do it straight away you don't have to wait!
It's only the photo machine that's changed |

Think I didn't put that very well! Yes, but why would any one else want a pic of you with said celeb? An autograph on a programme for an event could be worth something? |

autographs . . . why?
When DB was preparing to write my car off he was being harassed by loads of people for his autograph, some other racers were getting their cars signed . . . why would you want an illegible scribble on your pride and joy ? |

I am available, and have camera, for those who wish to have their photo taken, and I can offer a generous discount to fellow members of this forum.
sadly I can not provide a supply of 'Celebrities' for those seeking their fifteen seconds of glory. Bob, Tripos Media! |

This is possibly a lot more serious than the original question deserves, however.
My signature comes from a tune that was played extensively on the radio in Dubai when I was there a couple of years ago. It was a group of girls gossiping about people in the nightclub etc. Every time one of them wanted to go to the loo, go out for a cigarette or get a drink she'd say "but first, let me take a selfie". https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rc...iGvtyHx5Kt4d0w Last edited by Peter Mallett; 18 Jan 2016 at 11:38. |

Could anyone help in possibly pointing me in the right direction to finding race results that my Grandfather took part in? My dad knows little as any info was burnt by an evil woman, but all I know is the car he drove, obviously his name and the period he raced in.. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Two things:
Why not post in the Motorsport History Forum; and, what was his name? |
