Crawford names team for Rolex

The team raced by Max Crawford in a prototype of his own design will feature an disparate lineup of drivers for the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. Veteran sports racer Jan Lammers, Porsche Cup standout Johnny Mowlem and NASCAR 2001 championship bridesmaid Tony Stewart. Stewart remarked that he looks forward to racing a true road racing car and relishes the chance to learn from two veteran and established road racers.

Lammers joins the team with wins at LeMans and the Rolex in the past. Mowlem brings his experience with the factory Porsche team and the GTS track record at LeMans. Tony Stewart looks to add to his growing resume with wins in sprint cars, midgets, late models, stock cars (on ovals and at Sears Point last year), and IRL Indy car machinery.

The Crawford SSC will be powered by the ubiquitous Judd V-10.

Dr. Austin should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I'm really pleased for Max Crawford. he is a really nice man and talked with me for as long as i cared to bother him. The cars is constructed just beautifully and I think it might be the best looking LMP open top car out there, especially in the Lista scheme. With Jan Lammers, he has one of the most grizzled sportscar veterans out there and with Tony Stewart, landing sponsorship will be alot easier, plus the kid is pretty good as well. I hope they do well enough to land a big sponsor and keep racing. A win is too much to hope for, but we have seen bigger upsets just in the last two races there.

Hush now - don't let the GrandAm people catch you calling one of their cars a "Le Mans prototype"!!
