Thanks, I think one of the big meetings or the 'historic' dragster event would be the limit of my interest. In the meantime I've spotted a small Norfolk wings and wheels type show that I could actually take a classic to. Just need to get a take on weather predictions for the next two or three weeks.....
So, when you landed at 'The Pod' in your balloon, was that intended? Quote:

Keep hearing about the 'contaminated eggs' panic going on. One simple question- why the **** are we importing crap eggs from mainland Europe in the first place!
We know that UK welfare standards are the best, so let's hope this pushes processed food manufacturers into supporting UK producers, even if having to pay a little more. And for anyone like me that like a scrambled oeuf or two, make sure you BUY BRITISH! (This of course is not easy for tenthers living elsewhere....) |

As I understand it, the issue only applies to processed foods and not the eggs we buy in cartons.
So, stop buying those ready made sandwiches and salads. #simples. |

Nothing wrong with French hens! They are free range & the eggs are lovely. The problem seems to be related to Dutch & Belgian produce. I did buy some eggs in England last year - miserable little things they were. ...and speaking of Belgian problems, I see that charming Mr Verhofstadt was at Silverstone. Did you interview him, Bob? |

[QUOTE=John Elwin;3758747]Ah, there you are!
John, I've been told that there is something with danish eggs too. They are said to make you faster, any idea? Mike, the problem with eating english eggs here is that you have to hold your spoon with the "other" hand⦠Left or right, I dunno⦠|

We can get big eggs too: they are size graded in the supermarkets!
I'm all for this safeguarding of standards but this egg thing seems to be, as usual, blown up into a major media storm. Apart from the fact that it only seems to affect processed food, according to the BBC news this morning you'd have to eat one of these 'tainted' eggs everyday for the rest of your life for any adverse effect to reveal itself. |

[QUOTE=John Elwin;3758755]I take it this is not a reference to their athletic speed, and more about their 'tummy upsets'?

It could happen here, our runners being sometimes considered as "different"β¦ Our new gold medal said he forgot to bring his ID to cross the border. May be the kind of migrant who wants to go to France and runs to fast for your services! Thanks for letting him back, we need this kind of fresh people.

The newspaper I read this morn had a list of the withdrawn 'egg'products from Supermarkets. Shame on Waitrose for using imported egg for their sandwich fillings....... !

This is being blown up out of all proportions; a veritable storm in an egg cup.
When you consider that the estimated total number of potentially contaminated eggs only amount to about 2% of the UK's daily consumption of 34 million eggs, it puts it into some perspective. And mostly brought about by the British public's desire that our chickens should be treated better, and not factory farmed. A very large proportion of British chickens are now either free range or barn raised, but many free range chickens are having to be kept indoors because of fears of avian flu. But in the drive to improve chicken husbandry, egg production is lower as there are fewer chickens in any given space. Hence imported eggs mainly for non shell usage. |

What about the additional screening at airports due to Brexit? My sister flew to Palma on the day the story broke. She reckoned there were no delays. Coming back the same thing. Yet as far as Twitter and the other twonk filled left wing sites, it was Armageddon.
I spend a lot of time in airport queues and the longest is always passport control no matter where you go. |

I can only assume that, due to his lack of contributions here, Baub must be on holiday? I bet he's gone to Eastbourne, I've heard it's good for rheumatism. (Lot's of people I know have been there and caught it!)
