... and then there's Cadillac, with the aluminum 6.2 L LS/LT V8. Normally aspirated, produces over 640 hp in present race trim. Unless they decide to retire this engine and use a derivative of the engine in the Corvette C8, or a Ilmor-engineered turbo V6, it's what I would expect them to do.

I can tell you by very trusted sources that the RCR tuned 6.2L engine used in cadillac dpi only during 2017 season was pushing about 630hp at daytona before getting shorter restrictors race by race and without restrictors could easily go over 750hp... anyway I think of only 2 options for the cadillac lmdh: sticking with the actual 5.5L or use a derivated version of the 3.6L V6 turbo introduced in second version of cadillac gt3. In any case a big 6.2L would be worthless to me because the extra torque would be compensated by the mandatory power curve and at the same time the better fuel miliage due lower rev would be compensated by a lower energy allocated per stint. |

about bmw, an engine tone and sound is made mainly by the exhaust, probably the car will have a different sound on track. In general toyota, peugeot, glick and porsche sound all good to me, most of all if compared to old porsche 919 and toyota ts050 super queit engines |

The irony to me is that the Orecas sound better to my ears than all of the rest, other than the GTE Porsches...

Shows how far we've fallen these days, aurally speaking, when you consider what sounds 'good' from the current crop.

Yeah, it would be great if they listened and used that even for a single race. It took me a minute to see their camo was cars. So far we have old BMWs and Type S logo camo, well done to the graphics departments

One, I believe that the BMW and other upcoming cars deserve their own thread for those who'd like to make one.
And Two, I know that this car is a presentation mock up to promote the car, but where's the holes for the wrenches to take the nose off the car at? Will we instead find out more details when the actual track ready cars are ready. |

As canaglia points out they all get equalized. The remaining performance benefits are small subtleties. You want reliable, but these will be relatively under stressed. You want good packaging, but overall car performance BoP compensates. Maybe ease of working on. Efficient with decent fuel consumption doesn’t buy you longer stints, but you do run a little lighter on average. Until BoP catches up with you? An engine you already have is a nice thing from a cost perspective, which is the idea. Last edited by Adam43; 7 Jun 2022 at 03:18. |

And it shall be called “BMW M Hybrid V8”. Oh, what a dull name.
Not that I was expecting anything amazing. Who’d have thought that some random numbers and letters on the competitors would suddenly seem interesting. 9X8 |

That's great news. Great to have a name like Ligier involved, they have great history. Just hope the Lamborghini setup is good enough, but even so, great news. Can't wait to see how it goes

'Amongst the proposals DSC believes will not be part of the GT3-future was an early notion that only manufacturers represented in the WEC Hypercar class would be eligible.'
