this is getting dangerous...

let's hope no one else get injured, but I just wonder what would have happened without the SAFER walls...

True, but it shouldn't be THIS dangerous.

And now the news comes to us that Mark Dismore, who hit the wall today, has suffered a concussion and will not be cleared to drive for at least a week.

It would seem that not enough kinetic energy is being dispersed through the chassis and bodywork before it is absorbed by the cockpit. Of course I'm no engineer and there's always a good chance that I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. But maybe there aren't enough breakaway points between the engine compartment and the cockpit. It's like they're all one piece. Now don't you think that the IRL should mandate the HANS device? Not that it would have done any good for the back injuries, and I don't know if Dismore was wearing one or not. And with these soft walls the car's data recorders are reporting considerably lesser g-forces in the crashes, yet almost everybody is getting injured. I betcha Castroneves is wishing that they bump up his F1 test date!
