I'm kinda unsure on this, quite like it when manu's have separate cars for GT3 and GT4 like what Macca has done

I think like you, I do not like the same car model race in GT3 and GT4.
The bad thing is that Audi will do the same with the R8.

Kinda dumb imo. Why not differentiate the models the same way the classes do? Guess Mercedes couldn't wait for a smaller coupe to be produced to jump on the gt4 bandwagon, so they just used the same car.

It'd mean also economies of scale. Shouldn't be surprised if some'll start offering a conversion kit "GT4 to GT3" just like Ferrari did for the 488.
On a different note GT4 has good potential as a market, with big manufacturers coming in the room for small constructors (KTM, Sin) will probably shrink

There is no Ferrari GT4 but I suppose you refers to the 488 transformation between GTE and GT3. I World like to see a California GT4 but I think it is easier to adapt the 488 challenge presented the other day.

There are rumours around regarding a V6 engined "Dino", it'd eventually make a good base for a GT4 racer

Hopefully it will come true, the V6 should be the Alfa Romeo Giulia engine of 510 HP.

If you want to protect the coupes, you need a displacement limit a la 1980s IMSA GTU.

And even then you need to give people a good reason to go there, instead of springing for a second-hand car from the larger category.

Good idea, maybe the organizers are not so interested in the small coupe.

It didn't help that the small RWD coupe was almost dead in Europe during the 2000s...

Sure is true, and now there are also few small coupe RWD. The brands are more interested in GTI type cars, like Megane RS, Focus ST, Scirocco, Civic Type R Etc....I guess the market demands more of these cars.
Maybe the TCR is the answer to that and a GT5 is not needed.
Personally I prefer the small coupes RWD to the GTI, the Toyota 86 is a fantastic car for me.

Endurance -info says that 4 more brands would be entering GT4 in a medium term.
I think one is Audi with the R8, another could be Lexus with the RC-F that already raced in VLN SP8 this year and also it was testing in Sebring recently.
I do not know what the other brands might be. Ferrari?

They're evolving quickly though, both in aero and price tags.....

But Gt3 is getting expensive. tripling in price in the last few years

GT4 is more affordable although even they are starting to get up cost
